I have no link for that theory. It's just something I beleive based off of GRRM saying somebody will sit the Iton Throne at the end and it will be bittersweet.

It also completes Jamie's story arc. The events of the entire series starts with him killing the Mad King. Making Jamie a kingslayer. And maybe a kinslayer if you believe he and Cercei are the mad kings bastard kids.

I also think there is something to Jamie sitting the Iron Throne after he killed Aerys and Ned found him.

Jaime has no claim to the throne on his Lannister side, and even if he and Cersei are Aerys bastards, he still has no claim since he is a bastard. I think he'll first help Aegon to the Iron Throne, but upon realizing he's a fake and that Jon Snow is actually Rhaegar's heir, then he'll go North to help Jon.

The only thing people use to disprove the Howland Reed theory is that he worships the old gods. I don't see why that matters because he does not have to take on their religion just because he's went undercover to build an army inside King's Landing.

To support it though, he doesn't anoint Tommen much to Cercei's chagrin. His description sounds like that of a crannogmen. Thin, small, etc. And he clearly is disturbed by Ned Starks death

Do you think the person that sits the throne in the end will have a legit claim to the throne? If so, then that narrows the list down quite a bit.

Jon Snow
Dany
fAegon (if he is really who he claims to be)

Eta: I believe whoever sits it in the end may not have a claim to it and it doesn't really matter

I'd bet my foot he's the one sitting on it at the end. That or the Iron Throne is dissolved.

I'm curious what the consensus is on this question. I've always given it a very small chance that he's the real deal. (But a better chance of him being a Blackfyre). Though I could be way off.

I still have a hard time believing that HR would pretend to be the head of the faith of the seven. Although, it would be awesome if he was undercover to restore the realm and the old gods.

It would be the coolest gladiator moment

Cersi "who do you think you are?!?"

"i am howland Reed lord of Greyword watch, leader of the crannogman, follower of the old gods and loyal to the true king of the north..... Jon Snow........ suck my balls"

The consensus is he's a Blackfyre through his mother's side. Illyrio is his father and Serra was her mother. Serra is also Varys sister, and since Varys is a eunich, obviously he's not a good choice. Fortunately she had a son, and died from it around the time the actual Aegon was born. With the perfect decoy in place, Varys knew he could pick some Rhaegar loyalists that would not submit to Robert's rule to make this new Aegon king.

Most everybody believes Aegon is a fake and it will be a big reveal that he's really a Blackfyre.

I think it's possible he's legit and that the big reveal was that he is actually still alive.

If he is a fake then how does Jon Connington fit into all this? Why would he make all the sacrifices and do so much to put a fake on the throne? He was in love with fAegon's father Rhaegar so to me that is his motivation for helping Aegon like he is doing

The only way I see JC fitting into it is either he is helping the real Aegon or being tricked to help the fake one.

I think it makes it more interesting to have two real Targs running and competing for the throne but ultimately I could see Dany staying to rule slaver's bay while Aegon makes a play for Westeros.

Because he's blissfully ignorant on the whole situation. He didn't meet Aegon until he was 2. He's the perfect person to help Aegon get seated on the Iron Throne. Once he's there though, Connington needs to be immediately disposed of. I think he'll figure it out once he gets Aegon seated on the Iron Throne.

I think a letter will come from Jon Snow about the Others breaking the Wall and asks all the Lords and Kings in Westeros to send all of their men to protect the realm. I think Jon having the same name as him will make the final cog snap into place, and he'll realize that he is Rhaegar Targaryen's and Lyanna Stark's son. He'll realize that Varys has conned him all along, and the only person I think he'll be able to relay the information to is Jaime. Jaime will escape King's Landing, while Varys kills Connington. Varys will gloat on how the Targaryen dynasty will never return and that he personally will see to Jon Snow and Dany's demise. Connington will die thinking that Rhaegar in the end truly did love him for he named his son after him.

Dany can not stay in Merreen any longer. All of Essos is pissed and terrified of her. You can bet your arse they're about to throw everything they can at her to make sure that she and her dragons are killed.

I don't think we know for sure when Jon met Aegon.

What last name will Jon use: Targaryen, Stark or Snow?

I just don't see how Martin and bring all of the pieces together with only two books left. Unfortunately I see the TV series becoming the ending of the story, leaving a lot of unanswered questions due to the cost of production.

I agree. Dany has no choice to stay where she is at. She absolutely has to leave immediately. Her time in Mereen has served its purpose also as her dragons are big enough now to contribute to the plot.

If Dany doesn't go to Westeros at all I'm going to take away the Fat Man's eating privileges and make him live off of kale juice.

Has anybody ever caught some of the pop culture references GRRM has subtly put into the novels?

One that just came to my attention is in AGoT when Tyrion comes across three men named Lharys, Mohor, and Kurleket. (Larry, Moe, and Curly in case it wasn't obvious enough haha)

There's another about the Giants beating Belichick and the Pats in the SB too. Can't find it right now though

Probably when Ser Patrick was getting flung like a rag doll against the tower in Jon's last chapter.
