This is why I don't buy the theory that Serra is Aegon's mother. Varys and Ilyrio were working together. Viserys and Dany both have a better claim to the throne than Griff. So, if Serra is a Blackfyre and Griff is Ilyrio's son and he plans to make him king, why help Viserys and Dany? And why would there be any need to hide Griff? If he was Ilyrio's son, all that he would need to do would be to not leak Serra's true identity and nobody would think twice about Griff.

I guess I can buy that.

Considering the first question GRRM asked DB and David was, "Who are Jon Snows parents?" I'm gonna say its Jon.

He didn't help them...Illyrio planned for both the Targa to die in the desert and for Khal Drogo to invade Westeros. Then the Golden Company and Aegon sweep in and save a ravaged Westeros.

If that was the case, he wouldn't have sent her ships after Drogo died. The argument could be made that he was only after her dragons at that point, but I think that would be a weak argument.

But, hey, that's why the Crackpot thread is longer than most novels and still going strong! Plenty of theories to go around and who knows for sure which is right!?

When TWoW comes out we need to look at all the theories and see which ones we nailed, which ones were partially correct, and which ones were completely wrong.

It's going to be extremely tough going through 3K+ pages of material

Read all the books and lurker here but I'm unsure if something.

Stark children are apparently wargs. Bran knows he is. We see in the book that arya and Jon wargs in their dreams but do they know they are warging? Are they aware that they can skin change?

Jon certainly is, but I'm not so sure about if Arya really understands her relation to her wolf. She knows its real, but I'm not sure if she knows she's a warg.

Both do to an extent. Jon was seeing the wilding army through Ghost's eye when he was ranging with Halfhand, before they started running and then got caught. Jon was also called a warg by the other wargs in the wildings, in all the books.

Arya is aware she can see through animals, because she uses the ability to see the kindly man and smack him around when she is blinded and he is smacking her with a stick (she looks through a cat in the rafters eyes).

this is a fun piece of evidence to the griff/faegon theory:

quote:

One of GRRM?s most impressive skills as a writer, IMO, is his ability to hide foreshadowing in seemingly inconsequential scenes to be revisited by the reader and marveled at after the fact. For example:

When Podrick asked the name of the inn where they hoped to spend the night, Septon Meribald seized
upon the question eagerly […] “There has been an inn there for many hundreds of years,
though this inn was only raised during the reign of the first Jaehaerys […] Later, it passed to a crippled knight named Long John Heddle, who took up ironworking when he grew too old to fight. He forged a new sign for the yard, a three-headed dragon of black iron that he hung from a wooden post. […] "

"Is the dragon sign still there?" asked Podrick.

"No," said Septon Meribald. “When the smith?s son was an old man, a bastard son of the fourth Aegon
rose up in rebellion against his trueborn brother and took for his sigil a black dragon. These lands
belonged to Lord Darry then, and his lordship was fiercely loyal to the king. The sight of the black iron dragon made him wroth, so he cut down the post, hacked the sign into pieces, and cast them into the river. One of the dragon?s heads washed up on the Quiet Isle many years later, though by that time it was red with rust. The innkeep never hung another sign, so men forgot the dragon." (Brienne VII, AFFC)

Here?s the gist of the theory that Aegriff?s a Blackfyre pretender done in sigils, the black dragon returning to Westeros by sea in the guise of a red one.

Expanding on this, is there any chance at all that Rob is "alive" in some animal somewhere? Or do you think GRRM made such a big deal about them killing his wolf to specifically squash this possibility?

They changed the plan with Drogo's death/Dany's survival. After that she was supposed to marry Aegon.

I am convinced Robb used his wolf as scout
