Great points. I don't think she was a very good mother to Rickon either. He seemed to be a totally out of control kid around Winterfell.

Out of all the characters in ASOIAF/GoT, there's no contest--Catelyn made the dumbest decisions out of all of them. Taking Tyrion as a hostage, bringing Tyrion to 'justice' by her crazy sister, Catelyn arranging the marriage alliance for Arya (was that really necessary?)...the list goes on.

Where in the books does it say Arya is a poor swordsman?
If she is trained as an assassin, she would need to be adept at most weapons including the sword. Bravos is known for great swordsman and that is where she gets trained. I would say its a fair assumption that she's pretty good, or will be when all is said and done.
I dont really know how well she fights with a sword because she has yet to be in a straight up sword fight.
One thing's for sure, she's a killer.
