The one thing that never made sense to me about D&E was how they could be so stupid as to mess with hatching dragon eggs. Aegon was a just and moral king, there is no way he would risk something like that. This completely explains all of that. Crackpot accepted, placed in the pipe, and deeply inhaled. (Knods in satisfaction)
I have the same thoughts about Aegon. He wasn't mad and seemed like a great king; when I first read about the Tragedy of Summerhall I suspected that something was amiss and that we weren't getting the full story. The Crackpot theory would also explain Rhaegar's melancholy (because he would've been born into death and tragedy, done at the hands of his father, the King, and his father's Hand).
Aegon may have very well wanted to hatch another dragon, but I could also see Tywin and Aerys scheming together and using the 'hatched dragon and fire' theory to cover up what they did. And Grand Maester Pycelle was a Lannister kiss arse so you know that he would've kept his mouth shut about the incident; and Rhaella was deathly afraid of her crazy husband her whole life, poor woman.

Well, no matter what actually happened, Rhaegar was likely fed the egg hatching story anyway since his father would be the one to tell him what happened.

Question for the long time readers, how did Martin announce that feast and dance were finished?
Was he hint he was close or did he just one day say " hey books done it will be out......"

I've been wondering that too since I'm a 'summer child' as the diehard-since-late-1990s-readers refer to as post-show readers.

I could be wrong but I was told he kept setting dates/timeframes for Dance to be finished and then pushing them back and thats why hes been really quite about Winds of Winter progress.

quote:You forgot that while he is strangling her she stabs him in the belly, he finishes the job, lies down with her and dies.
He will be, since I think she'll pull an Aerys and rig King's Landing to blow once Littlefinger betrays her in killing the Freys and taking the Vale and Riverlands with him. I think the Tyrells and Tarlys will open the gates of King's Landing for Aegon's army, and Margeary will escape her wrath. Cersei then proceeds to poison Tommen, and tells her pyromancer or Qyburn to light the city on fire.
Jaime then shows up, to which Cersei is overjoyed saying that she always knew they'd die together. Jaime interrupts her asking where Tommen is, and then once he gets the answer, he then asks her if she knows why he truly killed Aerys. She says that Jaime did his duty as a Lannister and secured their family's legacy. Jaime says she is wrong and goes into details on why he killed Aerys. Slowly but surely Cersei realizes that she herself had turned into the Mad King and that Jaime was here to kill her, and that he was the true Valonqar. After finishing his story, Jaime tells her that he had secured Tommen's life and the Lannister legacy, but she destroyed it all, and then Jaime strangles and kills her.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Cersei kill Tommen, but it would be to "protect" him. To keep him from falling into the hands of the enemy and dieing violently.

Off topic, but what do people believe "Hodor" means?
Could that be the name of the Great Other?

Isn't Hodor also a descendant of Dunk (maybe Old Nan hooked up with Dunk )? Or just part giant?

It's implied when there's some emphasis placed on Dunk's shield hanging in the hall at Tarth. And Brienne's size/demeanor.'Nothing is ever confirmed.

Dunk & Egg are three short stories GRRM wrote that take place in Westeros 100 years before A Game of Thrones. Dunk is a large knight and Egg is Aegon Targaryen.
If you want them, I could email them to you.
If anyone else wants them, feel free to hit me up.
