I would have paid for them because they are that awesome but I didn't have much money in college and that's when I read them.

It was great feeling reading the books back when I knew there were still so many pages ahead to read. Waiting for the next book to come out, not o much fun.

When does the next one come out again?

I was lucky I could read all of them back to back.

I now know how it feels to wait....

I'm going to have to read cliff notes or something. Books are too long to reread

Rereads blow past. It's amazing how much you miss. I've read them all at least 3 times a piece and I still catch cool shite that I missed

Quick question, did Ramsay's betrayal of Rod Cassel and sack of Winterfell happen before or after everyone found out about Robb and Jeyne?

Roose was one of the first to know. So it is very possible he found out then instructed his son to sack Winterfell. His plans with Tywin and the Frey's could have been made along with his plans to replace the Starks in Winterfell.

So is it the general consensus that Sir Robert Strong is Frankenstein Gregor?

eta: I meant ALL Gregor. Like was that Gregor's head they sent to Dorne or a dwarfs head which is abnormally big.

Me too, cept for Dance. But something to be said for real-time waiting (like I went through for huge chunk of my life with The Dark Tower) for books to be published. It fosters a feeling of personal involvement that's really special...like getting to visit with old friends cuz you really have spent years with them.
So I envy/ respect those readers who've been around since 96 - and I totally get why some of em have a seniority complex, shite, I would also.

But pigging out at the buffet is nice, too

Good question. Strong never eats, talks, or removes his helm. Some say he is headless.

I don't know that he's necessarily headless (he can obviously see given his movements), just that there probably isn't much head left after the poisoning.

Not that this supports he's headless, either, but interesting theory about Strong:
quote:

Bran's Greendream

While Bran is in a coma from his fall in A Game of Thrones, he has a dream while flying with the three-eyed crow:
“ "There were shadows all around them. One Shadow was dark as ash, with the terrible face of a hound. Another was armored like the sun, golden and beautiful. Over them loomed a Giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood."[5] ”

Evidence this relates to Robert Strong
The first shadow is likely Sandor Clegane as he wears a hound-shaped helm.
The second shadow is likely Prince Oberyn Martell as he wears armor of bronze discs. Also the sun is the sigil of House Martell.[6]
The second shadow could also be Ser Jaime Lannister, who also wears golden armor.
The Stone giant is likely Ser Gregor Clegane as he is referred to as "The Mountain" (which are of stone) and his helm is adorned with a stone fist.[6]
The poison Prince Oberyn uses on Ser Gregor is noted by Pycelle and Qyburn to have turned Gregor's blood black.[7]
The stone giant is headless and Ser Robert Strong is possibly headless as well.

Found this in the discussion tab in above link. I like it.

quote:

I vaguely recall that Jon Snow sent the head of Mag the Mighty south to King's Landing, to show the throne what they faced on the wall. I also recall that the skull sent to the Martells was stripped of its flesh. I always thought that this was a classic misdirection by Cersei; that she had Qyburn strip the flesh from the giant's head so that everyone would think the Mountain was really dead. Am I wrong about what happened to Mag's head? If not, where should this theory of mine go? Gearbox 13:40, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Gearbox must needs be here with us!

I don't think Jaime could compete with many with his fighting hand gone.

I hope it's easier to list the people that Arya doesn't kill.

He can't. Hell even Ilyn Payne is kicking his arse. Although give him time and hell be great again. Sadly I don't think he has that time

Wish/ hope he has more time. Jaime's growth as a man is my favorite part of the books at this point. Having to rely on something other than his sword has been impressive at least. He has a major part to play for sure, anyway.
