Can someone recommend a horror book or series that creeped you out?

I love a good creepy book. I’ve read a ton of Stephen king and love short stories. I’m hoping you have something that will make my skin crawl

Was coming to post another of his

NOS4A2.

I think Hill is a better author than his father, he actually knows how to end a story.

Summer of Night by Dan Simmons

The Exorcist. It's rare for a horror book to get to me, but this one did a little (in a way that the movie did not). I like the sequel, Legion, as well.

I'm also a fan of Thomas Ligotti's short stories. They aren't overtly scary but a lot of them stay with me after I read them.

House of Leaves. You'll either love it or hate it.

Joe Hill is such a more concise writer than his dad it’s actually hilarious

Yep. I like Hill a lot. I think his dad is one of the most overrated writers ever.

I recommend The Lesser Dead by Christopher Buehlman. It’s about a 50-year-old vampire who looks 14, and it’s set in 1970’s New York. These are not Twilight or Anne Rice vampires at all. The ending was unreal.

I just recommended Buehlman’s other books in another thread, but I think The Lesser Dead is his best so far.

Rosemary's Baby, short but very unsettling. I'm a big fan of horror so I've read a lot of the genre for whatever that is worth.

I didnt hate this book, but there were a few things about it that held it back for me. The kidnapping was a bit rediculous in my opinion.

I feel the same way about Heart-Shaped Box that was mentioned earlier.

Of the books mentioned so far that I have read, I'd second House of Leaves. It's a love or hate book, but I think every horror/suspense fan should give it a shot. If it doesn't grab you, you probably quit halfway through and it costed you $15 or whatever. If it does grab you, it'll be one of the most memorable reads you will ever experience.
