What are some books you’d say are important for someone to read before they die.
Any genre fiction or non fiction

If you ever wanted a sense of what it might be like living in north korea, then read 1984.
For me, Catch-22 is the best anti-war book ever written and a genuinely great american novel.

I’ll continue building a list, but has anyone said Animal Farm yet?

Hobbit
quote:Definitely not a must read. If you're interested, great. Give it a shot. But this is a difficult book to get into and pales in comparison to the Hobbit and LOTR.

It definitely adds to The Hobbit and LOTR. You appreciate both of them a lot more having read The Silmarilion and if you can read something that improves some of the greatest novles of all time, you should read it.

It can be difficult to read at times, it reads more like the bible. But it doesnt pale in comparison and as far as beauty goes, it's hands down the most beautifully written of the entire series and has better love stories. Maybe not, but it just sounds like you tried and couldnt finish it.

And
After you die?
