Best book about hospitals during Katrina?

I’ve recently become fascinated with what went on inside the hospitals during Katrina. I know there are several books about it, but was wondering if any of you had read them. Five Days at Memorial is one that looks good.

I don’t know about books but the Radiolab podcast episode “Playing God” is about this and it’s a fantastic listen.

The equivalent for this for Tulane is Bill Carey's Leave No One Behind: Hurricane Katrina and the Rescue of Tulane Hospital.
I'm not sure it got as much press as Five Days. I haven't read either, but am aware of those 2 for your topic. I'm too close to both stories to read much about them. Maybe next year (will be 15 years) I'll break down and just do it.

I was at Children’s Hospital for Katrina and my wife was at Tulane. Scariest time of my life not being able to get in touch with her and not knowing where she was until the Friday after it hit. She’s in that book and her stories are crazier than mine. Watching people die and being powerless bc she had no equipment or medicine, being evacuated on a chinook, crazy times. To answer your question, I think both those books are good

Its a fascinating topic. I'm not sure if I'm ready to read something with such a heavy subject matter.

Currently ¾ the way through Five Days at Memorial.
Great story, however I'm not a big fan of the author's (Sheri Fink) writing style. It's kind of chaotic and could be organized better. It has huge run-on chapters where everything just melds together into a random blob of information.
Also, I think she let's her own personal feelings spill out at times instead of just telling the story as it is. (However, I'm just nitpicking here)
Still a great book, but just not a fan of the writing style.
