I love his books. Natchez Burning was his last one I believe. I wonder if he is writing another?

I've read most, if not all, his books. Very engaging.

I really loved Turning Angel

Not sure why I never picked his others up

May do that after I knock out these Jack Reacher books from the last few years

I really like the early Penn Cage books.

Quiet Game and Turning Angel.

The trilogy he did were my least favorite.

I think I have read every book he has written. His earlier books were great, the most recent books have gone downhill starting with the Natchez Burning Trilogy and the most recent I've read Cemetery Road. He's started to let politics really bled into his writings and I think they suffer for it. I've heard he had a pretty big change in his personality/outlook after the bad car wreck he was in and lost part of his leg

Pretty sure he's working on another Penn Cage novel now

Spandau Phoenix was a damn good book.
I've not read any others of his, but I have one or two on a shelf somewhere on the TBR list.

I read the first Penn Cage.
Started the second but couldn’t really get into it.

That's the only one of his I've tried. He has talent but the politics were a bit heavy handed, and I thought the characters were cliche festivals at times. I gave up on James Lee Burke for pretty much the same reasons, though I liked his early ones.

Big fan. I’ve read the 6 Penn Cage books and I’m reading Cemetery Road now.

agree...the rawness of his early work is great and then he became another self righteous woke libtard whose writing reeks of propaganda and pandering.

I have read them all and agree that the early ones were stellar, while the more recent ones somewhat less so. Turning Angel was probably my favorite. I visit Natchez regularly, so enjoy that association. I will likely read anything he releases, and I think he is working on Southern Man right now for release next year.

Just finished Black Cross. Another great early Iles book. Big fan of all of them.

His stand alone books are great. I lost interest in the Cage series about 3 books ago.

I read everything he wrote until it got to the point racial pandering. All black people are angels who float around on a cloud of innocence, all whites, except the protagonists who are always descended from a civil right advocate, are devils who belong to the KKK and have lynched at least a dozen poor blacks.

That gets old, I don't care what your politics are.

I have been a big fan, but I agree. Probably will not pursue any of his new work.

He killed off my favorite character. I almost drove three hours to a book signing to give him shite. Then I realized if he wasn’t a great writer it would not have bothered me. Also I can act a little nutty sometimes.
