Well Eli Manning just put a huge "X" on his back. On a conference call to promote his appearance on Saturday Night Live, Eli shared his thoughts on Roger Goodell's player punishment...
quote:

“I think he’s doing the right thing to make sure this doesn’t ever happen again,” Manning said. “There’s no room for any type of bounty system in the NFL. You have to respect the game.”

“I think he’s been harsh to try and prove, to make a statement,” Manning said, “that there is no place for this in the game of football.”
Can you say bounty on Eli's head?

Some people here are so blind to Louisiana. He didn't say anything. I'm a Saints fan, but the reality is they did something stupid and paying a harsh price, but oh well. And Eli has the most recent shiny Super Bowl ring, so I doubt he really cares what Saints fans think about him.

I don't really see the actual quotes from Manning supporting the headine. Let me make one: "Giants' Manning Calls Saints' Penalties 'Harsh'".

Pretty sure many teams do something like this, they just didn't get caught. To stand up and make comments only gives defenses more reason to ring his bell when they play him. Should just keep his pie hole shut and make his millions. Why put a target on your back for no reason?

Don't see anything wrong with what he said. On target from what I read of his statement.

What's so offensive about Manning's comment? What's he supposed to say?

What do you expect from an Ole Miss player. Guess he's still upset he fell on his arse against LSU in 2003.
