That’s pretty bad. Kid didn’t do one single thing wrong on that play. The official should be dealt with for that.

Ref who called the tech did it from near half court at the scorers table. The ref closest didn’t call anything. That’s awful. Guessing the ref who called it thought he taunted, but even if so that’s a pretty BS call.

If I’m the tech coach i get thrown out with the kid on that one. Kid did nothing wrong

Deadspin says the ref was a cop for 23 years before he became a full-time ref. I feel sorry for the citizens he encountered on patrol. They're probably still wondering why they are in jail.

That was real bad. Calling a Technical, trailing the play from half court with no clear gestures or words exchanged. Can’t wait to get the reactions from some of my friends who Ref college ball. I hope they know this clown.

Looked like the ref that lit him up with the tec was blocked from seeing his reaction after the dunk and assumed he taunted the player on the floor. Fine the ref one games pay for not doing his job.

That's some YMCA-church league bullshite reffing right there. Boykins made a gesture towards the Charlotte player who fell down on the play and the ref took exception to it. Horrible call...

The first technical was after a vanilla blocked shot with no obvious showboating or other apparent reason. Very strange calls. Ref should be psychoanalyzed to see if he is suffering from mental illness.

This call was bad, but look at the thread on Twitter from this and you can see his first tech was even worse.

Seriously, that was a horrible call. What did he do? He didn't taught anyone, he just dunked the ball. I see it was his second technical in the game. It was in the beginning of the 2nd half. Was there some back and forth going on, on the court with him and a player from Charlotte? Maybe the ref thought the kid was taunting and wanted to de-escalate the situation?

This sounds terrible, but I can't really tell what happened, because I can't get this to stream smoothly. I really have no idea what happened.
