Lane Kiffin Made Up Quote From UCF Player To Use As Bulletin Board Material
© Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports
Oh, Lane. FAU head coach Lane Kiffin is trying to motivate his team prior to their matchup against UCF this weekend. So what better way to do that than make up fake quotes and use them as bulletin board material. Like this one...

Not only did Kiffin misspell Clarke’s last name, but he took his words from an Orlando Sentinel article and made up his own quote...
quote:

The part about Singletary being “a pretty good back,” is accurately attributed to Clarke.

But the remaining part is false as the Orlando Sentinel article’s author wrote, “However, he is looking forward to that challenge and stopping Conference USA’s reigning Most Valuable Player dead in his tracks.”

I mean, it wasn't an exact quote, but the writer said the kid said it. He probably should not have tweeted it as an actual quote though.

Needs to get a job as a NYTimes writer if the coaching thing doesn't work out.

Kiffin used an abridged quote - big deal. He used to work for an abridged coach.

What does South Alabama have to do with any of this? Wouldn't it have been more effective if Kiffin had made up a quote about one of his own players?
