Can You Guess Which 6 Bowl Games Had Record-Low Attendance Numbers This Year?
© Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports
The Associated Press recently studied the attendance numbers for 33 second-and-third tier bowl games this season and found that six of those games compiled record-low attendance...

The games were the Cure, Camellia, New Mexico, Pinstripe, First Responder and Famous Idaho Potato bowls.
...

Proximity can help: The Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa featured nearby UCF and a record announced crowd of 28,987 showed up. The Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit set a record of 34,765 with Eastern Michigan playing. The Texas Bowl in Houston drew 68,415 — 16,000 more than last year — because Texas A&M was there and played former Big 12 rival Oklahoma State.

The bowl schedule was already saturated and the CFP has diminshed these games even further. Mix in a few variable like unattractive teams, location, etc and you have a recipe for really bad bowls

Too many bowls. Need to cut that amount in half to bring value back to the bowls.

The Cure Bowl was even moved out of the Citrus Bowl Stadium to the Orlando Lions Soccer stadium (25,500 capacity) and STILL could not fill it. Sad.

Yes I had tickets but didn’t go because of how late the game was and I go to work very early. The Rose bowl screwed the time up!

How bad is the Birmingham Bowl that that wasn't a record low? There was nobody there from Boston College.

I’m surprised the AIDS-Infected Needle Bowl didn’t make the list.

There isn’t a stadium in San Francisco, otherwise it would have made the NY6
