Bill Self Signs 'Lifetime' Contract With Kansas, Can't Be Fired Over NCAA Investigation
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports
Kansas Jayhawks head basketball coach Bill Self signed a "lifetime" contract with the school on Friday that not only guarantees him millions of dollars, but also protects him from being fired over the current NCAA probe into KU. How did he pull that off?

Per 610 Sports in Kansas City...
quote:

“Current Infractions Case: The parties agree that Athletics will not terminate Head Coach for cause due to any current infractions matter that involves conduct that occurred on or prior to the date of full execution of this Agreement. If Head Coach is suspended by the NCAA and/or the Big 12 Conference as a result of the pending NCAA infractions matter, Head Coach agreed that he and BCLT will forfeit 50% of earned Salary and Professional Services Payment during the time of such suspension. For clarity purposes and by way of example, if Head Coach receives a one-month suspension, then for that month only Head Coach’s salary and professional services payment would be reduced by 50% to $9,735 and $114,583.”

How many NC’s he has? Lifetime contract is the most ludacris thing I’ve heard

Well, that's not subtle. Kansas may as well just announce openly "we're going to cheat and fk you if you don't like it "

So when can we expect Forde and the gang to publish the hit piece on Kansas - you know one of the schools that has actually received a Notice of Allegations.

Time for the NCAA to put a perma-ban on Kansas’ post season for violations. Let’s see how long that contract lasts.

Seems kind of suspicious that they would specify that he can’t be fired for cause over the NCAA’s investigation

Interesting considering Kansas suffered their worst loss since 1974 with a 34-point beatdown in the 2nd round of the tourney. And who gives anyone a lifetime contract? He has been a great coach, but things can always change even with the best of coaches.

So messed up. They fired Jeff Long, but give this cheating, underachiever nexus a get out of jail free contract. According to the contract, he could have raped some lady on March 31 and not be able to be fired with cause? The NCAA knows that they'll be burned to the ground if Kansas walks, right?

At least Kansas is putting their lack of concern over rules right out there for everyone to see. Just win, that is all they care about.

He's not worried about losing out on that 50% because he knows Dickie V will just take the money out of the V foundation and make up the difference...
