LSU announced Wednesday morning that Mike VI's tumor on his head resumed growth and the cancer has spread.
quote:

BATON ROUGE – LSU's live tiger mascot, Mike VI, was anesthetized and taken to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine on Monday, Oct. 3, for a CT (computed tomography) scan to check the status of the tumor in his head. The CT scan and a physical exam revealed that Mike's tumor has resumed growth and the cancer has spread.

LSU will hold a press conference to discuss Mike's prognosis at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine on Skip Bertman Drive in Room 1212C today at 10:30 a.m. with LSU's Attending Veterinarian David Baker, DVM, Ph.D. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to or across the street from the LSU SVM. Use the administration entrance (there is a long, covered walkway) and check in at the front desk so that you can be escorted to the room.

Appreciative of the efforts to prolong his life in comfort...Mike VI is eleven years old. Sad news.

Hopefully they just euthanize the poor guy. There's no point in dragging him though more treatment

Pardon my ignorance, but is there a reason LSU can't put him down if it's this far along?

A friend of mine is on faculty at the vet school. She said it's really bad so probably very little that they can do for him now.

Is there any chance they can treat him again? This is really a nightmare. Just seems like there must be something. Really sad.
