Former St. John's guard RJ Luis Jr. has committed to LSU, according to multiple reports on Tuesday.

The Miami native began his career at UMass before transferring to St. John's for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. He started in 32 games during the 2024-25 season, averaging 18.2 points and 7.2 rebounds, and was named the Big East Player of the Year.

Luis Jr. went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft and signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz, and then was traded to the Boston Celtics. He was waived before the start of the season and signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Celtics' NBA G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics.

Now, he's headed to Baton Rouge but will need to go through the eligibility process.

Can you sign an NBA free agent to a college roster if they have eligibility left?
