Former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu took a trip over to Missouri, TX this week to surprise the state bound Fort Bend Marshall High School football team with an uplifting talk after their senior safety teammate Drew Conley was tragically shot and killed in a family dispute last week.

Fort Bend Marshall will take on Aledo in the 5A DII Texas High School Football Championship Friday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington TX.

Aledo is going for its eighth state championship while Fort Bend Marshall is going for their first.

We'll be pulling for you, Fort Bend Marshall.

Remember his public service-motivated video he was in where he put himself in a hot car in Arizona to show how fast he got hot and how it's so dangerous for children and pets. Pretty cool imo.

Seeing this dude turn it around after he hit rock bottom is the most impressive part. I was glad to see him create some meaningful relationships like his one with PP7. If not for his LSU teammates he may have never gotten straight. Man was he entertaining to watch! Respect to Honey Badger!

So proud of him. I wish his story got more coverage. He's the kind of role model kids need.

Lot of people are still mad at him for being stupid and getting kicked off the team. Had Les miles kept it under the rug and he played that extra year who knows the results but by Les kicking him off the team i believe it made him the man he is today. This guy will forever be a tiger in my book and should be mentioned as one of the all time great tigers!

What player on that LSU team do you think helped lead him astray ? Les should have kept JJ away from Honey Badger.

Tons of former Tiger greats, but Im the most proud of you my man. From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. And now look at you ! You have an incredible platform where you can positively impact peoples lives, because you’ve lived it & can now relate to others “up against it” . We are here on this earth only one small fraction of time & if you changed one young mans life for the better with your words and past experiences you’ve lived a more productive life than most. Keep it up Tyrann. Couldn’t be prouder.

Should be a helluva matchup Aledo features the #2 RB in the nation for 2020 while FBM has the #2 dual threat QB for 2020

I signed on for the first time in a long time to comment on this. I’ll never forget 2011 and the honey badger. He really should have won the Heisman. It was fun watching him that year.

Not since Dalton Hilliard's freshman year did I have so much fun watching a player in purple and gold.

When he turned it around, I knew there were speeches lined up down the road- this is one of many. Great speak from the heart just like he plays. You all just saw why he is so good, the passion is bottled up inside and unleashed on every play.

Simply the greatest player I have ever watched at Tiger Stadium. 2011 was my most memorable year as a Tiger fan.
