Funny that he does this right before the election. Wasn't this the same guy, a couple of years ago, who floated the idea to do away with athletics at state colleges because of state budget problems? Just saying . . . .

Shouldn't allow state politics to get involved in football, especially college football @ LSU!

Wasn’t this guy trying to end LSU football when he came into office?

what I immediately thought. Not really, but he was using LSU Football as leverage politically which was BS.

JBE knows President Trump is going to be at the game so he wants to get a little spotlight on himself as well. If there wasn't an election JBE wouldn't even show his face at a practice. Scumbag.

Funny how just 4 yrs ago he was publicly saying that he may have to do away with LSU Football. JBE is a clown.

The man is a liar...he's doing what every other Democrat resorts to by bringing out the race card comparing Rispone and Trump to David Duke, and should be ashamed of himself for stooping to those depths. Unfortunately it keeps working with a certain sector of people.

Funny how he does everything right before his re-election! Acting like he cares about this team, and giving teachers a long overdue pay raise... it’s all a big smoke screen!

It really wasn’t even a pay raise. The state sent money to each school district yearly to distribute bonuses to the teachers. He did away with that and just gave them a $1000 per year raise, which was about $1500 less than they were getting with their bonus. So technically he didn’t really give anyone a raise. He cut their pay.

Isn’t Louisiana’s budget in the green now? What were we in debt before he became gov?

Uh, we were over taxed thanks to that POS, edwards, threatening in order to get taxes raised. That’s not a budget surplus. That’s theft in the form over overtaxation of the working citizens of Louisiana.

Does the team know he threatened to shut them down? That asshat can suck rat poison

Shutdown LSU football and end TOPS were 2 ‘threats’ right out of the gate. I haven’t forgotten.

Absolutely false. He never threatened to shut the football team down. He said LSU could lose accreditation if any more cuts were made to LSU's funding. If the school lost accreditation none of the football players would be eligible to play. He never once threatened to shut down LSU football.

Interesting that he chose this season to do this with it being a huge campaign moment right now for him. I don’t remember any other appearances during the last few seasons. I’m SURE it’s just a coincidence and he’s not using LSU football at all just to promote himself.

Listen, no matter what side I’m on I can still call it fairly. He has been ‘around’ the LSU football team over several of the past few seasons. Try Google.
