There would be 5 more national championship flags flying over Tiger Stadium if Saban had not fallen for the rat poison in 2004. He should have known better as he had actually coached in the NFL unlike Kelly.

He was/is good friends with Belichick. Had Belichick not been having success in New England, I don’t think Saban leaves LSU

Saban had to learn this the hard way. Like Kelly, he gets his greatest satisfaction out of teaching and developing players as individuals and as a team. He found out that you can't really do those things in the NFL.
