BYU will be without one of their top returning tacklers when they open up the season against LSU, as the school announced that linebacker Francis Bernard will redshirt this season for personal reasons.

Bernard started all 12 games last season, recording 80 total tackles, 5.5 for loss and two sacks.

LSU and BYU open up the season on Saturday, September 2nd in the 2017 AdvoCare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium in Houston TX.
