The College Football Playoff committee will be announced Friday its plan to continue as a four-team playoff for the next four years through the length of the original contract. Per ESPN:

After months of lengthy debates and multiple meetings about expansion, the College Football Playoff will remain at four teams through the end of its current 12-year contract, which expires following the 2025 season, CFP executive director Bill Hancock told ESPN on Friday.

By choosing to remain at four teams for four more years, the 10 FBS conferences and Notre Dame have forfeited roughly $450 million in potential revenue.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick held a critical videoconference in which they determined they could not come to a unanimous agreement on the proposed 12-team format that was made public on June 10. They made a recommendation to the CFP's board of managers, which is comprised of 11 presidents and chancellors who have the ultimate authority over the playoff, to stay with the current four-team field through the duration of the current contract. Why was a 12-team scenario the only other option? Everyone knows the correct answer is in the middle. But compromising would make way too much sense.

This so retarded. It would be good for college football, and it would generate even more revenue and more meaningful football games.

There is always that one person that just doesn't want to go along with the current changes. It needs to be 12.

It's just dumb to have a four team playoff when there are more than 4 power confetences. Why create a system that allows for the possibility of an undefeated P5 champion to get left out? It would be so easy to add 4 more teams and make 3 more bowl games actually mean something. How about a little foresight, gentlemen?

Being possible and actually happening are two entirely different matters. When has an undefeated P5 team been left out?

Good. We don't need more playoff blowouts.

This is honestly the stupidest decision, both financially and for the betterment of the sport. Just a complete and utter mistake by the board.

So you think 1 against 12 and 2 against 11 is fun? Yay more blow outs. Couldn't disagree with you more.
