Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports
Former Texas Tech wide receiver Jonathan Giles from Missouri City, TX announced Monday afternoon that he has committed to LSU.

Giles, who was a Biletnikoff Award finalist last year, will sit out 2017 and have two years left to play. He recorded 69 receptions for 1158 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.

Giles is the second Texas Tech player to transfer to LSU this offseason, following defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko who announced in April that he was committing to LSU.

This kid was a quarterback at Hightower High School, near where I live outside of Houston. I saw him play a few games in HS and he's very fast and good in open space. Can wait to see him in the offense. We haven't had someone like this in a while.

Should add depth. Not sure why someone would transfer 'up' and expect to start but wish the kid all the best.

He was a Bielitnikoff Award finalist last year. Whoever is on our roster next year, I would expect Giles to start.

I wish Johnson had stayed. We will probably have a good crop next year, but he'd have made it better.
