Former LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger has been waived by the Tennessee Titans.

Mettenberger, who was selected by Tennessee in 6th round of the 2014 NFL Draft, fell into a backup role after Titans drafted Heisman Trophy quarterback Marcus Mariota second overall in 2015.

The Titans also just recently signed veteran quarterback Matt Cassel on the first day of free agency. Per ESPN:

Mettenberger, who has a big arm but limited mobility, completed 60.3 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns, 14 interceptions and a 75.4 passer rating for the Titans. He had the lowest Total QBR in the NFL since 2015, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Maybe he can go somewhere where the line can actually protect him.

Perhaps, if it's a better fit. Though they didn't keep Cassell who topped Mett in TN.

At least getting released now gives him time to learn a new playbook/system.

He needs to be in a Patriots type offense, something that doesn't rely heavily on qb mobility.

It would be a good situation if he could win the backup QB spot.

Matt Flynn has had a great career. What is better than getting paid the big bucks to ride the pine?

Good, now he can pick the right fit & maybe get a better shot. He's more than likely destined for a Matt Flynn type of career but u never know
