CBSSports.com is reporting that former LSU linebacker Tahj Jones is in serious condition after receiving a gunshot wound to the abdomen Friday night.
quote:

According to the Sulphur, La. police department -- as reported to the Associated Press -- Jones visited a female friend Friday at a Sulphur apartment complex and was still at her residence when 36-year-old Brandon Winey also arrived. A fight ensued during which Winey produced a gun and shot Jones.

Jones was driven to the local hospital and then transferred to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., for a Saturday surgery.

Winey fled the scene but was later arrested without incident at his home in Lake Charles, La., and charged with attempted murder. He has been jailed in Sulphur with his bond set at $1 million.

Winey is himself a former LSU player, an offensive lineman who per the Baton Rouge Advocate was taken in the sixth-round of the 2001 NFL Draft and played in three NFL games in the early Aughts.
Jones participated in LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday. He appeared in eight games in 2013, making 10 tackles.
