Despite LSU's convincing win over Alabama on Saturday, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith says that the Tigers got "lucky" during Monday's episode of 'First Take.' Per The Spun:
quote:

“They lucky,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take on Monday morning. “Let me explain. First of all, I want to start out on the right foot – I wanna give LSU props from the standpoint that, Alabama’s defense couldn’t stop them. They couldn’t stop [Joe] Burrow … But I’m gonna say this – Tua [Tagovailoa], you open the drive, no one touches you and you just lose the ball.”

Smith continued to cite multiple careless errors from several Alabama players. He even went on to dish some slight criticism on Nick Saban and his clock management to end the first half.
C'mon man?

Bama got lucky they had 2 wide open sideline passes to Smith for TD. One was a trick and snapped it while Stinger looked to the sideline. They had to use a gimmick. The 2nd TD shouldn't have happened because it was bump and run and Smith won but bad call by defense. So both teams got lucky with the others mistake you loud mouth moron, SAS.

Tua would not have scored even if he hadn't fumbled. LSU guy was closing fast.

we did have some luck, but they also had some that allowed them to make a game of it. Either way, there was no way Alabama was walking off that field with a victory.

Actually Alabama got lucky (on bad mistakes by LSU) on 3 scores, that is why the final score is closer than it should be.

When you’re one of the best teams in the nation, you have to be able to handle the pressure throughout the game. Bama couldn’t handle it early when it mattered most and we capitalized. Go tigers.
