LSU starting safety Greg Brooks Jr. announced Friday that he will return to the team in 2023 for his final year of eligibility.

Brooks Jr. transferred to LSU last offseason after being a three-year starter at Arkansas.

The senior from Harvey, La. (West Jefferson High School) started 12 games for the Tigers this season, registering 61 tackles, four passes defended, and one interception.
quote:

“This year did not end the way we wanted or expected, but it is part of the process of building a foundation. Normally, this is where you hear the part about moving on to the next chapter, but I believe my story in Baton Rouge is not over. I will continue this Path to Greatness at LSU for one more year. I want to close this chapter the right way alongside my brothers and Tiger Nation.”

I understand the news today is about Boutte. But this is one of these under the radar moves you won't necessarily remember in a couple months but that will pay huge dividends with a young but talented secondary next year. Let's Geaux!

His experience is very welcome in a defensive backfield that will be talented but young. Everyone, except Jenkins, is returning on offense bodes well for the 2023 Tigers!!

Guys returning for their senior year is something that just hasn't been part of LSU football for the last 10 years. Really good to see, hope this is the start of a trend.

He was good in his first year. I like his choice to try for greater recognition thereby improving his draft status rather than hoping to land in a suitable situation. This is great news for the team!
