Sports Illustrated unveiled their preseason top 25 on Tuesday morning and ranked LSU at No. 23.

Miami, who the Tigers will face in week 1 in Arlington, TX, is ranked No. 13.

Here's what SI.com has to say about the Tigers in 2018:
quote:

23. LSU TIGERS
Last year: 9–4 (6–2 SEC); Lost to Notre Dame in Citrus Bowl

SI Top 100 players: Two: CB Greedy Williams (No. 11), LB Devin White (No. 75)

X-Factor: LSU finds itself in unfamiliar territory: None of its returning backs rushed for a touchdown in 2017. After four years of Leonard Fournette and then Derrius Guice, the Tigers have been spoiled by dominant running back talent. (The last time an LSU team didn’t have an 1,000-yard rusher was 2012.) Now, the load appears to fall onto sophomore Clyde Edwards-Helaire and senior Nick Brossette, who combined for 28 rushes for 127 yards a year ago. The duo could form an impressive tandem to support grad transfer QB Joe Burrow. — Joan Niesen

I honestly think whats gonna happen is that Miami is way overrated and they come out looking pedestrian and LSU seems a lot more solid than they are.

I almost wish we were unranked this year. Better to be off the radar and motivated by the doubters.

They’ve been in the playoff 3 years in a row. They’ve got 3- 1st rounders on the Dline. What’s so hard to believe about them being good?

Clemson is a paper tiger. Notre Dame however is terrifying. Obviously LSU needs to put in extra practice (evening) to prepare for National TV 09/02/18.

Been a lot more successful than LSU lately and skull dragged us the last time we played them. You're calling them a paper tiger?

Coming from behind, to kick a field goal is called skull dragging.

Probably about where we deserve to be. Maybe even a bit generous considering last year.

Wisconsin is really good this year. They were 13-1 last year with their only loss to Ohio St in the Big 10 championship by 6 points. The entire OL returned (almost all were projected to get drafted), they return a nearly 2000 yard rusher (hell their top 4 RBs), a QB that threw for over 2650 yards and 25 TDs, and their top 4 WRs. Now they lost a bit on defense, but this is Wisconsin, they know defense. They could legit make the playoffs this year.
