Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports
Sporting News unveiled their way-too-early College Football Top 25 for the 2017 season and pegged LSU at No. 11.
quote:

11. LSU
Ed Orgeron’s first full season as head coach should be successful, especially if it continues to revolve around Heisman Trophy candidate Derrius Guice. The Tigers should be in good shape early, but the November schedule is brutal.
Six teams from the SEC were ranked in the top 25.

1. Alabama
2. USC
3. Clemson
4. Ohio State
5. Florida State
6. Oklahoma
7. Penn State
8. Michigan
9. Washington
10. Georgia
11. LSU
12. Louisville
13. Wisconsin
14. Florida
15. Oklahoma State
16. Stanford
17. Virginia Tech
18. West Virginia
19. Auburn
20. Kansas State
21. Miami
22. Colorado
23. Texas
24. Tennessee
25. South Florida

UGA at #10? Wow.

I'm fine with 1-9. Wisky is too low. They should be in the top 10. UGA at 10 is ridiculous.

Ok Denvertiger. Valid points all the way around. Don't sleep on Georgia though. I saw them play a lot this year and saw improvements each game. QB Eason could be a force. Everything really depends on which players move on and which ones return. I can't wait till next season. Congrats to Clemson on that NC!

It means Denvertiger the media darlings USC, Ohio St., Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida St. and oh yeah: Alabama! Of course, Bama belongs there unfortunately and Ohio St. has beaten Bama so ok. But the rest haven't won Nc's in a while, yet they are always at the top of the polls. Even if this poll doesn't mean shite.

You just made my point for me. Bama and Clemson are playing right now. OSU and UM have combined for 40+ wins the past 2 years. Not sold on SC but that conf is down outside of UW (also in the top 10 and returning a ton). I mean, other than UGA, everyone in that top 10 could make a solid claim to a spot in the top 10.

You'd think the media would learn their lesson when it comes to voting Georgia as a top team.

Michigan #8? Seems extremely high given the losses on defense.

The problem is, there is no team you can really put ahead of them but Washington.

The "medias usual suspects"? What's that even mean?

I usually agree about this, but most teams in that in that top 10, deserve to be. Bama is Bama, USC is dominant with Darnold and they had a very inexperienced DL and OL this year, Ohio St went 11-1 with only 9 returning starters this year. FSU is freaking loaded next year and won 10 this year with a RS freshman QB and an inexperienced defense, Washington loses Ross at WR and a couple good ones in the secondary, but they are a still loaded enough. Penn St only loses the one WR really after a finishing 11-3 this year, and UGA plays in a crappy division and bring back just about everybody, including all the young talent in offense and both RBs. Really, who could you realistically trade outside the top 10 for Oklahoma, Clemson, and Michigan though?
