Ross Dellenger with Sports Illustrated is reporting that the SEC is moving closer to a conference-only schedule for 2020, similar to what other conferences have already announced.
quote:

The SEC is moving closer to an agreement on a conference-only schedule of 10 games, multiple sources told Sports Illustrated. During a virtual meeting on Wednesday, a majority of athletic directors approved the idea of an SEC-only, 10-game schedule. However, the schedule must be ratified by league presidents. SEC presidents are expected to meet virtually Thursday to seriously discuss the matter. It is unclear if they will vote then or delay a decision until next week. The NCAA Board of Governors is scheduled to meet Tuesday in what could be a momentous event for the 2020–21 college athletic season. Officials there could postpone or cancel fall championships, eliminating year-ending championships for sports such as FCS football, volleyball and soccer, or moving those to the spring.

Whatever. I am over it for this year. Too much politics for .01% of any issues whatsoever. This just shows how sheep can be herded!

Bama gets Vandy, KY, Mizzou, and UT. We get UF, UGA, UT, and UK.

Bama already had UGA on the schedule this year. Watch it go away for "logistical reasons" or some such bull shite.

Gumps definitely have to drop UGA because of covid or something.

Bama will have an outbreak the week of the UGA game

Either play or don’t.

This is just madness. Players are at statistically zero risk. Play the damn games.

But then again the players don't and won't away from others so your point is moot.

This makes no sense at all. I wish the commissioners (and politicians) would grow a backbone. By this logic, covid is worse in Austin, TX than it is in College Station. Wtf? You aren't getting safer by eliminating out of conference games. Makes no sense at all. Literally 0 logic.

Even if it's one less game it's safer. How can you not understand that?

I agree. Play them all or don't play at all.

@Tigers4Lyfe, by that logic, you should cancel all games. If one less game is safer, all less games is even more safer. So for the sake of safety, let’s cancel football games! Matter of fact, we shouldn’t go to the grocery store, restaurants, gas stations, churches, or workplace. Since it’s safer to not have exposure to other people at these. But let me guess, you still do many of those activities don’t you?

I really wish they would push that game a year or two so they know what Tiger Stadium and tailgating is all about.

To hell with pushing it, let's play it this year!

They are almost forced into this. The other conference's are doing it so SEC is doing it by default. The only problem is who does LSU add to schedule for 9 games. Cause you know the other conference's play 9 and they will bitch all year if SEC doesn't play 9.

I bet they send us to the shite hole Mizzou.

Why not 12 games??

Too much of a grind to play 12 conference games. Florida would have to play almost the entire sec west. Alabama might have to play florida and georgia for the first time in a long time. Nick is trying to get coastal carolina added to the sec for onecyear only so he still gets to stack another uncompetitive win.

Smart, seeing as you can only get Covid through playing nonconference games

Forget all that NCAA board of governors canceling championships. If they do in fact try doing that I say the SEC, ACC, BIg 12, BIg 10 Pac 12 formulate a 6 team playoff inviting one At Large team if they qualify or the highest ranked major conference non champion team and make a championship happen.

NCAA doesn't control FBS championship. It's why article said it could shut down FCS championship which they cover.
