Former LSU defensive coordinator and current Youngstown State head coach Bo Pelini could be a strong candidate to replace Dave Aranda as LSU's defensive coordinator, according to Football Scoop.

Pelini served as LSU's defensive coordinator under Les Miles from 2005-07 and was in charge of the defense when the Tigers won the 2008 BCS National Championship over Ohio State.

The 52-year old left LSU after the 2008 title game to become the head coach at Nebraska, going 67–27 and winning at least 9 games every year before he was fired in 2014.

Pelini has been the head coach at Youngstown State since 2015.

Coach O and Bo two guys that will knock back some Red Bulls punch themselves in the face and tear their shirts off. The Wild Boyz are Back!

Anyone saying they don’t like Pelini, have not been LSU fans very long. He would be a solid hire!

He won a natty with us as DC in 2007. Are people complaining about this possible hire? I'd love it.

bullshite. I have had season tickets since 1969 Pelini is not good. Once his D was analyzed by the other coordinators, he had nothing new to add. His first D was very good and it started going downhill. Nebraska can tell you.

pelini put some damn strong defenses together at nebraska with Suh and Amukamara

I'm pretty damn sure no one should question Coach O on anything at this point. If he thinks it's a good idea it's likely a great idea.

really...was it not coach o who assured us repeatedly that joe brady was a tiger and was not going anywhere???

If you didnt know that the brady contract extension was a smoke screen to get us through the end of the season, you are an idiot

Look dude was successful and aggressive and with LSU talent that’s half the battle. Also like to think he has grown and learned even more over 10 years. I’m In. Bring back that Swag

Bo is a competitor and did a hell of a job getting lsu ready to win the 2007 title vs Ohio State even when he was headed out to a HC job.

Who else would be more qualified? He would be a good fit

In 2007, I was at a practice before the championship game, and I watch Bo, one piece at a time, what seemed like atleast 20 sticks of gum in his mouth. Was amazed that someone could chew so much gum at one time.

He was using gum to get of dipping tobacco I believe back then.

People ask why go back to being a DC after being a head coach for 10+ years? Pelini signed his four-year contract in 2015 and will make $213,894 in base salary. He'll receive a $3,000 bonus for winning in the Missouri Valley, a $3,000 bonus for each game in the FCS playoffs and $20,000 for winning the national title.

Looks like he was being paid from Nebraska which offset some of this but has now run off. Annual salary: $2.875 million through 2018

So of these comments remind me of what was said about the hiring of Eddie O

Granted the defenses were good and we won a NC, but I just can’t get the soft coverages on the outside against Tennessee in 2005. That was some of the dumbest coaching I have ever seen... ever. Rick Clausen made us look like shite, Rick Clausen...

Just looked at stats for that game defense forced 5 turnovers and 5-15 on 3rd down not bad considering player distraction with Katrina.

Bo left in 2007 with the 3rd rated D in the country. In 2008 it fell down into the low 30's. He's super intense, and a perfectionist, something this Defense has lacked at times.

He brings a different kind of intensity to the defensive side. He was super when he was here before. I trust O's ability to determine this fit. Geaux Tigers!!
