LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda has turned down an offer from Texas A&M and will remain with the Tigers, according to Ross Dellenger with The Advocate.

Aranda has reportedly agreed to a new four-year contract worth $2.5 million annually.

Aranda is remaining at LSU after A&M's latest, last-ditch effort to yank him from Baton Rouge, agreeing to a new four-year contract that averages $2.5 million a year. Coach Ed confirmed the news in a tweet Wednesday night.

and, when that day comes, I will be more than satisfied with it. the guy is super detailed-oriented along with being a very successful performer......he is suited to run a program like LSU.

Aranda is the future of LSU. Hopefully he will be the head coach at some point.

In the last two years, LSU has made some questionable moves on contracts, extensions, non-firings, hires, etc. This is not one of them and deserves some praise on the swiftness to keep an elite coach. Expensive but at least earned on his performance.

As I said, LSU has deep pockets too. As for the “years to come” comments from Coach O, that’s not exactly accurate. Someone will come after Aranda after next season and LSU will have to pony up more cash to keep him. That’s just the landscape of sports these days. Multi year contracts are basically meaningless. Just renegotiate on an annual basis. That’s what they’re doing anyway. Aside from that, I knew Dave didn’t want to leave all the talent he will have next year for a reclamation project at A&M. Now let’s just mend fences with Canada and get a little continuity for a change! Next year could be very special!

I totally agree that this will be an annual occurrence but because of recruiting you can't can't advertise year to year contracts. This would definitely give opponents ammunition against LSU by telling recruits coaches will not be available next year

Way to waste time on a coach you can't get, A&M. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest Jimbo's armpits.

It's OK Ranters! There is still much we can find to bitch, moan, cry, and generally melt about. This is but one positive for LSU. We can ignore it and focus our negativity on other things. Life still sucks!

They'll find something before they have a reason. Won't be long. At least wait for something bad to happen.

I like that A&M is in the SEC. When I was at LSU, the games with them were always good.

I hear that, Tiger Spray! I saw that last night and thought, “here goes more inaccurate reporting with no facts.” The media sources that falsely report such nonsense should be fined accordingly. They are such a waste of time.

Perfect! Well done Tigers DC Dave Aranda was the one assistant we couldn't afford to lose and retaining him was the only move we could've made. Now the question is can LSU afford to pay off OC Matt Canada after dropping that much currency on Aranda only time will tell. Anyway, congrats to Aranda for getting paid and to LSU for retaining a superstar DC for the foreseeable future. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN?????????
