As the end of LSU's regular season quickly approaches, the coaching chatter has begun to heat up.

Some LSU fans would like to keep interim head coach Ed Orgeron in charge next year while others think Florida State's Jimbo Fisher is the best candidate for the job. Some even think Tom Herman from Houston could be an option.

LSU AD Joe Alleva reportedly wants to make a decision soon and many believe is will come down to Orgeron, Fisher and possibly Herman.

Can we keep O and Arranda and get rid of Alleva?

Please don't hire Fisher! What is the freaking obsession with this guy.

The "obsession" is that he's very good.

IMO, his success was due mostly because of Jameis Winston. He is not doing as well now that he's gone. I don't think LSU wins anymore games with Fisher than we did with Miles.

Pulling for Jimbo but if he says no I'm okay with O with Aranda waiting on deck.

Aranda is one of the brightest defensive minds that I've seen in a long time and under no circumstances should ever allow Aranda to leave... I know he's making 1 mill right now as a D.C. but I would give him an immediate raise up to about 1.3 mill just to keep him happy.... ijs

Larry- why don't you do a poll of who people WANT to be the head coach?

We've got a choice between a National Champion winneing head coach, proven developer of QBs, and a great recruiter and a DL coach who is a top and tireless recruiter but did a shite job at a program that we make fun of. Only a drooling shortsighted LSU fan would compare the two.

Today I think it's safe to say Coach O lost his chance. And he did it convincingly. And Coach Ensminger showed us all why he is no longer an offensive coordinator. That might as well have been Les Miles and Cam Cameron coaching that football team today.

It's too early to have this poll. Wait until one second after we beat Florida and Texas A&M. Then I will vote. Nonetheless, my two favorites are coach O and Jimbo Fisher. Herman, on the other hand, just doesn't have a proven track record yet for an elite upper echelon SEC program like LSU. If we had to take Herman, then he should only be paid commiserate to his level of experience or lack there of. Meanwhile, it's going to be a really tough decision between Coach O and Jimbo Fisher as there is a lot to like there. Thus, either way I don't think we will lose. With Herman, I'd have to cross my fingers and bite my nails for a few years before I could relax.

Every stupid bafoon who comments on Coach O in this post(or all posts for that matter) that thinks it's so important and necessary to factor in his accent on whether he gets the job or not can STFU. Anyone of you tards who live in the southern half of LA sounds like coach O. Which includes most of our 4-5 star recruits. The accent factor is a non factor. Results are the only factor. Lexman1 you must be one dumb MOFO if u needed someone from Eunice to translate for you how we talk. It's not like Eunice is a worlds away from Larose. And yes, I am from Larose and still live in Larose(with a LSU degree to add) and damn proud that we finally have a leader who can relate to the players and coach the game the way it's supposed to be coached. How about the tards who allegedly can't understand his accent go tell him that. I bet the ones who do that talk wouldn't walk that walk. How about let's unite and talk about the attributes that we would want in our next coach not talk about how he talks. When it comes to accent, Coach O is 1 member of a pretty big and powerful club that donates tons of money to LSU. I'm not saying let's hire Coach O, all I'm saying is let's stay on point. Let's find the right guy to lead us to championships. GEAUX TIGERS!!

Take a deep breath Scott 2274. I needed someone to translate because I don't speak Cajun French. I'm from Central Louisiana but worked down South quite a bit. Made a lot of good friends down in your area. And not everyone spoke French, but quite a bit did. Anyway, I agree accents mean nothing in coaching. It's all about winning championships! Hope Coach O gets a shot. He deserves it!

Everyone who keeps saying "47% of people are morons!!" Need to realizero this poll is who do you THINK will be the next coach. Not who do you WANT. I think the majority voting that they think O will remain our coach just shows that they think our incompetent AD will take the easy and cheap option, not that they want coach O.

Just my 2 cents..... I say give Coach O a two year deal, see what he does. In that time, if he does not get a top notch offensive coordinator you find someone else. LSU cannot lose, they still keep a great recruiter AND ambassador for LSU. If he does not show improvement it gives time for the school to really "shop" for a top replacement. Again just something I have been thinking about considering there really is not a GREAT replacement out there without costing the school WAY more money than that person is worth.
user avatar
Whynotme89 months
Really? What message are you sending targets when you only trust your coach to a two year deal. Other schools would use that as a recruiting tool to why you should not go to LSU.
user avatar
Space Cowboy89 months
If coach O were dumb enough to accept the job under those ridiculous and very insulting conditions, then I'd be very worried for LSU because that would mean that Coach O isn't a very intelligent person, even though intelligence is the top priority of the job.

tiger chaser89 months
You can't do two year deals... how you think that would effect a 4 year recruit?
user avatar
jayboy50489 months
Why not just keep CEO on a two year deal and see what he can do.... If CEO doesn't pan out keep Aranda on staff and give him the coaching job in 2019
user avatar
atltiger648789 months
2- year deal would destroy recruiting and our staff would get poached. God, you people are really dumb.
user avatar
Space Cowboy89 months
If Coach O is offered only a 2 year deal, as opposed to the standard 4 year deal, he will tell Alleva to stick it up where the sun doesn't shine and I wouldn't blame him.
user avatar
Lexman189 months
Ok. Enough with the Coach O. failure at Ole Miss. That's over! He learned from his mistakes there and is now doing the complete opposite. And guess what? He's winning! Isn't that the bottom line? Either way, Coach O. or Jimbo would be great coaches for our team. I have no problem with either one. And sorry, but I agree that Aranda will be gone soon as he is so good someone will offer him a head coaching position and he'll take it. It's just the nature of the business. We'll find someone to replace him, and the wheel goes round and round. Enjoy the ride. Geaux Tigers!

O is winning with Les' players and Les' staff. Interim HC is more about emotionally keeping the team intact and less about creating and running your own program.
