Paul Finebaum was on the ESPN College Football Podcast after the conclusion of Week 5 and talked about Ed Orgeron and LSU's tough schedule ahead. Here's what he had to say:
quote:

“This puts Ed Orgeron right in the middle of the conversation,” Finebaum said. “Ed has been living week to week since we sat here five weeks ago after UCLA. He escaped Mississippi State, but he's got serious problems, Matt. He picked a really bad time to lose a game you should have won because now he has to get on a plane Friday and go to Lexington, which is a surprising team. And if you think it gets easier after that, it doesn't. He has Florida after that, he still has Alabama and Arkansas and Ole Miss. I won't even mention Texas A&M because that game is probably not going to matter. He's got a realistic chance of having a disastrous season and in Baton Rouge, that usually spells one thing.”

Ed loses all those game there is no way he comes back. Ed should have been able to build after the NC two years ago. Covid gets some of the blame for last years 5-5 record but this year is all on Ed. He decided to party after divorce and hire 2nd rate coordinators. That is on him lose the rest of the games this season and he needs to be gone!

When Coastal Carolina and SMU have better teams, and even UL Lafayette is getting votes in the coaches poll, and you're not, something has to change. Something drastic.

Ed never became more than just a position coach. So when 2019 happens and your coaches get poached, you either slam dunk replacements immediately or you coach in place of those lost coaches until you can. It's one reason Saban is consistent. He made his way up as a defensive coordinator, and when all his guys get poached every year, he knows how to run a defense. Ed doesn't have that kind of knowledge and now that the 2019 coaches are gone, the team is hot garbage. Let's face it, 2019 was amazing and Ed caught some lighting in a bottle that I will cherish. But Ed is in over his head.

If we lose to Ky jelly. Big Head Ed needs to be shown the door and shrimp boat. Tiger Stadium will only be full for the players support not the coaches. They laid a big one here. Ed is just not smart enough to be a HC.

Unfortunately, the stadium will not be full

Is Ed is hiring 2nd/3rd rate assistants because word has gotten around the tight coaching fraternity and no one good wants to work with him? I’ll hang up and listen.

Daronte jones has never been a DC in all his life. Coach o needs a serious DC on the defense. Name several DC u wish to see hired who runs a 4-3defense

Best thing to happen to LSU was a score of 24 to 19. Took a few days to settle down and see this as a positive. Ed is out the door!

Eh, except for Bama, there isn't a single SEC team on their schedule that they couldn't beat and likewise, there isn't a single SEC team left on their schedule they couldn't lose to.....let's let it play out......

There's a problem when a program like LSU, one year removed from a national championship, can't replace poached coordinators with others who have a track record and are coaches that other teams would actively pursue. Good coordinators want to work under good head coaches. Good coaches are able to hire top tier coordinators. It all boils down to O not being the coach that a program like LSU needs.

Only way Ed is still here next season is to beat Bama.

Always want LSU & Coach O to be successful, but very frustrated with results like everyone. The combined losses of NFL draft picks, transfers, opt-outs like JaMarr Chase, etc. and attrition along the OL created a deep hole for anyone to dig out from. 2020 was an anomoly. Bama was butt hurt from losing to LSU so all their upperclassmen returned. Not so at LSU. Everyone cashed in including Joe Brady. Had to expect a drop off, but this is ridiculous! when you can't get an offensive play in after a timeout you're clueless!
