LSU linebacker Michael Divinity sent out the following message on Instagram Monday afternoon regarding his departure from the team due to a "personal matter."
quote:

tht_boy_mike:

I am taking some time off to focus on a personal matter and just wanted to say thank you to my coaches, teammates, and the entire LSU community for your continued help and support. I am sorry I can't be on the field for you guys. My goal is to get myself back to 100% in time to graduate in December and be back on the field fighting with my brothers soon.

This is an incredibly difficult time for me, and it means so much to me that so many people have reached out--knowing you all have my back will make the next short while a lot easier. Thank you all.

I got this, I promise you.

He will be lucky if he signs a rookie free agent contract if he did get kicked off the team for smoking weed it will hard for him to get drafted by any team

Did he smoke weed? Death in the family? Is he gay? I have so many questions.

a whole lot of people forget this is a game. I love it as much as anyone, but you have to separate the game from things like this. whether you think he should have been smarter or whatever your opinion is, the dude is still in college and is clearly having a rough go at it right now, so the last thing he needs is all you redneck a-holes screaming that he’s a disappointment to LSU. you’re probably the same person booing QBs at games if I had to guess. support the damn players or shut the hell up

Dude many of us smoked weed in college. Few of us had million dollar opportunities we could lose in an instant for doing so. I just hope he realizes while what he did wasn't wrong on personal levels, it's against school and team rules. Players weed will be there after school, in the mean time just binge drink like everyone else.

A personal matter was a nice cover up for getting kicked off the team for smoking weed

well , it's just a matter of personal preferences. I think we all know the problem . You're trying to tell me he took time off for "personal problems"the same week he was to play in the biggest game of his life just to get himself straight..BS !!! I fight depression & PTSD , & have for literally 50 year s. There's nothing you can tell & explain to me about either that I havn't already heard. He just needs to go to rehab, & get straight. It happens every day . It still makes you wonder how Satan's players can be busted w/pot, and a stolen gun plus one w/filed numbers, and they missed the 1st half of the Millsaps game as punishment Hmmm?

Some people forget that these are very young people playing a game for our entertainment and take it way too serious. Hope the guy takes care of whatever he has going on and gets his life on track. That's the most important thing for the young man.

I can’t imagine what could possibly be so big as to cause someone like Michael to find the need to leave the team at this point in time, but all I know is that it has to be pretty big.... Gigantic really. We’re with you Michael.

You know, this is a situation which simply requires fans of the team to stay the hell out of this young man's business and let him do what he needs to do.

sure, but the only reason any of us even know who Divinity is is through the football team. Thus our interest. Nothing wrong with that.

atltiger6487 we are fans of a football team and school. In turn we are fans of the student-athletes of that school. We, as fans, should support them when they need us most. Imagine if this young man was your child. It's not that you made mistakes, it's what you do after. Does Tyrann Mathieu ring a bell?
