Michael Divinity Releases Statement On Instagram Regarding His Departure From The Team

By Staff ReporterNov 4, 20194:00 pmDiscuss the story42
LSU linebacker Michael Divinity sent out the following message on Instagram Monday afternoon regarding his departure from the team due to a "personal matter."
quote:

tht_boy_mike:

I am taking some time off to focus on a personal matter and just wanted to say thank you to my coaches, teammates, and the entire LSU community for your continued help and support. I am sorry I can't be on the field for you guys. My goal is to get myself back to 100% in time to graduate in December and be back on the field fighting with my brothers soon.

This is an incredibly difficult time for me, and it means so much to me that so many people have reached out--knowing you all have my back will make the next short while a lot easier. Thank you all.

I got this, I promise you.

You know, this is a situation which simply requires fans of the team to stay the hell out of this young man's business and let him do what he needs to do.

sure, but the only reason any of us even know who Divinity is is through the football team. Thus our interest. Nothing wrong with that.

atltiger6487 we are fans of a football team and school. In turn we are fans of the student-athletes of that school. We, as fans, should support them when they need us most. Imagine if this young man was your child. It's not that you made mistakes, it's what you do after. Does Tyrann Mathieu ring a bell?

Damn that's sad.
Dude is obviously struggling and life is more important that football

Wonder if it has to do with a tweet MD45 made last week "Rest in Peace Rasi" with a link to a NOLA.com article about a man that was shot to death in Harvey. The article didn't ID the victim, but makes me wonder if it was someone close to him and he's having a tough time coping with the loss?

Mental illness is real. That's what I was thinking. I would never have believed in anxiety issues till it happened to me in March. I have just gotten better in the last couple weeks. If I hadn't owned my own business I would have lost my job.

Some people forget that these are very young people playing a game for our entertainment and take it way too serious. Hope the guy takes care of whatever he has going on and gets his life on track. That's the most important thing for the young man.

People can have stuff going on that doesn't involve us as fans. How often do you put yourself in the shoes of an 18 yo field goal kicker. Life is tough for everyone and god forbid your life is under a microscope by the media and thousands of fans. I am not making excuses for these guys but I can imagine it’s not easy. 8-0 9-0 10-0 Life changes immensely. I hope everything works out for everyone.

of course. But these guys voluntarily play football for LSU, with all the expectations and pressure that comes with it. That's why they're under a microscope. Now they could play at an FCS or D-II team with none of the pressure. It's their choice.

What does kickers have to do with the price of tea in China? That's your example?

a whole lot of people forget this is a game. I love it as much as anyone, but you have to separate the game from things like this. whether you think he should have been smarter or whatever your opinion is, the dude is still in college and is clearly having a rough go at it right now, so the last thing he needs is all you redneck assholes screaming that he’s a disappointment to LSU. you’re probably the same person booing QBs at games if I had to guess. support the damn players or shut the hell up

I can’t imagine what could possibly be so big as to cause someone like Michael to find the need to leave the team at this point in time, but all I know is that it has to be pretty big.... Gigantic really. We’re with you Michael.
