Max Johnson Opens Up On Struggles From The UCLA Game, Looks Ahead To McNeese State

LSU quarterback Max Johnson spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon and talked about some of the struggles from the UCLA game and what they can do to improve as they gear up for the home opener vs. McNeese State on Saturday.

Thats what I was thinking when I read that. See where the space is vactated by the blitzer and throw right in the open space. That's what I thought you are supposed to do. Make them pay for leaving that open.

Do we have no QB under center plays in our new offense? I feel like Davis-Price running a few plays I formation between the tackles could be pretty successful.

I hate this about these "modern" offenses. Some OC s do not use it, even when it is 4th and 2. You know who did, Chip Kelly. We need a few under center plays.

Guys, tons of modern "spread" offenses have excellent rushing attacks. It starts up front with the LG, C, & RG. Then you have to have an RB w/vision. We're struggling right now in those areas and it destroys our rushing attack.

I agree the running backs have no vision and don't understand the concept of the OL blocking scheme. Play calling was good but the RB's were scared of getting hit and missing the holes when they did come open.

Maybe they can nurse some of the wounds vs McNeese and W Michigan. The season starts in Starkville, so going 3-1 before Auburn would still offer a bright outlook. I will be glad just to be able to tailgate and enter the stadium as a human. Go Tigers

Qb will be fine, lot of things to fix, including a defense that was billed as the unit to help us win some ball games while the offense comes together...well, it appears they need a lot of help as well..my gosh York almost missed a chip shot field goal...Things will improve, we will solve the problems..GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!

WR have to be more physical and burst off the line and get open even if they aren't getting the ball. Boutte is the only one that actually knows how to burst off the line and put the DB on his heels and fight through coverage to get open. Sit down in the zone. Too many times WR were running into coverage instead of sitting down in the open space especially if the defense is playing off you.

Defense is easy to fix if they just listen to the palycall and follow the instructions given them. I saw three slants by the TE that could have been prevented. Prior to the snap the defender was told by the LB to watch the TE coming across and all three times he ignored the TE which lead to touchdowns

The offense that is Max Johnson fault. He has understand what he is working with on the offensive line and help himself. He should know they are still learning their assignments and He is going to have to tuck it and run on certain occasions due to the limited time he has in the pocket. Also it is better to deliver the hit than receive the hit from the blindside in the pocket standing in the pocket. Joe Burrow had the same problem and realized he had to help his line out by running until they got the blocking schemes down. Which led them to be one of the best O Lines by the end of the season.
