Former LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been hired as Marylands new OC, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

Canada and LSU parted ways two weeks ago after just one season together in Baton Rouge. He will replace Walt Bell, who left earlier this month to become Florida State's new offensive coordinator.

Canada finalized the agreement Tuesday and was on Maryland's campus to meet with the team. He will sign a three-year contract with the school.

LSU parted ways with Canada earlier this month after he spent just one season as the Tigers' offensive coordinator despite receiving a three-year contract that paid him $1.5 million per year. Canada and LSU reached a separation agreement that will pay him $1.7 million.

Good luck Coach Canada nobody here should be upset with Canada. I mean, when was the last time we rushed for over 150 yards and out gained Bama in Alabama? Canada's offense was handcuffed with a very, very limited QB and the play calling against Tennessee in that monsoon was brilliant and I'm sad we couldn't keep him I really wanted to see what we could've been 2 years in and better QB play.

“He will sign a three-year contract with the school.“ Sure... ok.

I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if he stays for the entire length of the contract.

Next year, Maryland's offense>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>LSU's offense. I'm very VERY confident in this.

Maryland does not play the same teams/coaches LSU plays.

How much does this save us in buyout money?

Nothing

there should not be a buyout .. a settlement was negotiated. I am not an attorney, but I see the two as "stand alone" transactions.

He's going to show O what happens when an offensively incompetent HC doesn't stick a wrench in the spokes.
