Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
Former NFL star running back and New Orleans native Marshall Faulk joined the Paul Finebaum show on Thursday and said that he was shocked when he found out that Leonard Fournette was not named as a Heisman finalist.

"I couldn't believe that Fournette did not get invited," Faulk expressed. "Not inviting Fournette, when I saw that... I couldn't believe it. I didn't even understand it."

The former Heisman-runner up went on to compare Fournette to outstanding former NFL running back LaDainian Tomlinson.

"They look some much alike," Faulk said. "Physical, the choppy style of running with the steps, able to get outside, inside, can hit the home-run and catch the ball out of the backfield."

" Being selfish he choose to play at a small school where they let him play the position he wanted, and he didn't give a rats a$$ what his home state university needed him to play at the time. "

I hope you were still trolling when u said this stupid shit!

So Faulk was being selfish when he insisted on playing RB instead of DB? Just because he was born in Louisiana doesn't mean he owes it to LSU to play for them no matter what. He played RB in HS and he believed that he would be a better RB than any other position so he followed his instincts and didn't listen to all of the "experts" at LSU (and every other school by the way) and ended up making them all look extremely foolish.

The attempt at trying to justify the comments you make below by saying "he could have made his money at any position" makes you look even more absurd. There is no way of knowing that he would have been not just good but HALL OF FAME great as a DB so please stop.

When Faulk came into the NFL RBs were being paid far more than DBs.

drizztiger first of all, i'm not your bro. and if you read my last post I admitted that I was trolling some of you hotheads because you are so easy to troll. YET you make Marshall Faulk appear to be a one tool player, when in fact he would have likely excelled at any position where the coaches needed him to play. Being selfish he choose to play at a small school where they let him play the position he wanted, and he didn't give a rats a$$ what his home state university needed him to play at the time. Sure he made his fortune at RB but he could have made his money at any position. How many good high school quarterbacks are recruited as DBs? Check that out. Most do pretty damn well at the position. So Marshall Faulk with his selfish a$$ has no business showing his mug talking about a player who thought enough of his home state university to help them, and play here. You know what else. Leonard would make one hell of a linebacker here as well.

Not saying he should win it but he led the country in one less game vs defenses that didn't have to respect the pass.

Faulk would've been a helluva DB.

As a Ram fan I became a big fan of Marshall Faulk and his words mean lots to folks like me. I am sure Leornard was glad to hear them as well.

"who shunned LSU back then to play elsewhere"

LSU shunned him bro. CFB and NFL HOF RB and LSU wanted him to play DB. No wonder LSU lost 21 games in 3 years from 91-93.

I was trolling a little bit there. fact is there were a lot of great high school players not only from within the state, but locally who shunned LSU back then to play elsewhere. that is one of the reasons we sucked during that time. Or vise versa.

"I think he got invited to play at SanDiego State by Mr. Ben Franklin."

Wrong!! My bad. Another poster had it correct. The "only" school that offered him running back was San Diego.

"i was shocked when Marshall Faulk shunned LSU to go out west. So what difference should it make to LSU fans what he thinks?"

Yeah ok. LSU didn't offer him at RB, think it was Archer. Just like Miles offered Dak at TE. Marshall isn't a great analyst, but he was a heck of a RUNNING BACK and solid person.

Why? San Diego State gave him the opportunity to be a RB instead of a DB. Hall of fame career later I think he made a good choice.
