There has been must speculation about the status of LSU quarterback Brandon Harris and if he will remain with the Tigers next season, but the junior QB cleared up any confusion on Monday night.

Harris began the 2016 season as LSU's starting QB but struggled and was replaced by Danny Etling in the second gave of the season vs. Jacksonville State.

Etling never gave up the starting spot and many thought that Harris' time at LSU could be coming to and end and that he would likely transfer of out if the program.

During a mini Q&A session on Twitter last night Harris told fans that he will be back at LSU next season and that he is excited about new offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

Good for him and he graduates in May. Glad he's not running away from competition.

@CaptainPanic Ran way? U Wot m8? Etling did no better than Harris did. Etling is a sidegrade honestly. We still got shite on by teams regardless of who was QB. I didnt see Etling beat Bama or Florida.

BDJ, there's different expectations coming from someone who's been on a team for years under the same head coach than there is for a transfer being coached by an interim coach. Despite that, Etling had a 60% completion ratio this year, and Harris had a 53.8% last year. A 6-7% difference is pretty significant and certainly disproves your "did no better" argument.

Not that my opinion matters but I just gained so much respect for Brandon for sticking with it through a tough situation and coming back to compete again next year.

I think Harris is going to see some playing time next year. He must've talked to Canada and found out that competition is open and he is going to be coached up. Harris definitely has more potential than Etling. Dude just needs proper coaching. I've got a good feeling about Harris next year.

Pulling for Brandon Harris. He's a good guy. Still remember his performance in the New Mexico State and Mississippi State games in 2014. Also, he played great against Florida in 2015.

Ever since Booger Mc made that statement to BH on live tv when there was speculation that BH may transfer "Don't let the door hit cha where the good lord split cha" it's been a moot point ever since... lol

McFarland NEVER "made that statement to BH on live tv"!

Can't understand the negative comments about Etling. Played much better imo than anyone else we've had since Met. Brandon completely lost his confidence last year, but could certainly get it back this offseason. Not to mention he will be a senior with SEC experience, and that's invaluable. So now we have 5-6 QB's with a shot at starting and that's a good problem to have. I'm sure Coach C will make the right choice!

I think Harris could thrive under a new sysytem, only one QB in the history of Miles looked poised most of the time. I see Harris starting in '17.

its possible. but i wouldnt put money on it but glad he believes in himself to compete and get his job back. shows the tigers will have some competition for which tigers desperately need bad at the qb position. id really like to see lindsey scott on the field doing something. that kid is super smart, good instincts and thrives under pressure but i say that cause what i saw in hs but havent seen what he can do in over a yr. the best qb is always the guy who we havent seen yet. cant wait to see what canada does with his qb's to develop them

Not sure How Brandon will respond to the new schemes and coaching, but won't it be refreshing for him to approach it with likely less pressure than in the past.

It's never been about the coaching or scheme, he just didn't translate from HS to college and no change of school is going to fix that.

You know that it was entirely about the Coaching and the One-Dimensional Scheme: 2TE/FB/RB/1WR no spread with the QB under center instead of in the shotgun. LSU was the slowest, least spread, most predictable, and ranked 120th over the last 3 yrs in Pass Attempts. 80% of the plays in the Pros are Shotgun 3+WR spread and 65-70% Pass. It has been 35 yrs since the Pros ran more than they Passed. Harris put up 2x as many TDs as Etling whose 9 with 3 coming against lowly Southern Miss was an all time low. Harris put up 10X as many Rushing yds and 4X as many rushing TDs.

So proud of you, Brandon! Your football future is brighter if you stay and prove yourself. I believe in you and hope that you and Danny Etling push one another and the best man wins. Thank you for staying. Anyone with a negative comment about this young man can stick it, if you never played qb at an SEC school then keep your ignorant mouth shut and support a guy who's living his life on the big stage. I never walked in his shoes so my support is the best thing I've got to offer him. Go Tigers!
