LSU freshman offensive guard Kardell Thomas suffered an injury in practice on Wednesday that could keep him out for a little bit, according to head coach Ed Orgeron.

Thomas, a former five-star prospect from Southern Lab in Baton Rouge, was expected to add much-needed depth at the guard spot this season.

Orgeron did not know how serious the injury was but the news isn't great for a position group that is already banged up with lineman Chasen Hines, Damien Lewis, and Thomas Perry missing all practices this week.

Orgeron added that offensive lineman Adrian Magee is in the lead for left guard at this point.

Let's just get 25 OL next year. I'd be ok with that.

if i were a head coach, i'd stack as many DL OL recruits as I possibly could, no matter star rating, these positions are the hardest to analyze in translation from HS-NCAA-NFL, you could have a superior athlete that dominates lower levels but can't learn technique or has a lack of work ethic and doesn't pan out, then you have the athlete that just didn't have access to proper training to get his full potential, but has the drive and work ethic and turns into a beast... not to mention these guys carry a ton of weight during play, which fresh legs on the line is crucial

then there is the fact that these position groups are the single most important on the field and MUST gel together to perform at the highest level

You know when an athlete mentions Jesus in their twitter after an injury, it's usually serious. No!!!

this is why im pessimistic on championship runs, until this team develops a dominating force on the offensive line with depth, it will continue to be 9-3, 8-4, 10-2 seasons

At the one position group we couldn't afford this, then specifically at LG we thought we were set for sure, was gonna have Magee, Hines, and KT competing, how could that go wrong???? then its early injuries when the O line is needing to find the right 5 and gel...I know you can't but at some point you just want to say no contact to the ground til game 1

shite happens man. I hate it as much as you do, but what do you do different? Tell the guys to ease up so no one goes down? It’s football. It’s like saying Chaisson shouldn’t haven’t rushed so hard when he tore his ACL last year because we needed him the rest of the season. It’s unfortunate but bad things happen every year

Adding that i have no idea the seriousness of Kardell’s injury. I hope he’s ok

I don't think they tackle to the ground at all, anywhere.

What is that supposed to mean? KT is a stud and would be sorely missed even as a FR.

Conditioning is poor at lab. Is that what you are implying?
