LSU Backup OL Mason Lunsford, A Former Maryland Transfer, Is Stepping Away From Football

LSU backup offensive lineman Mason Lunsford announced Wednesday that he has ended his football career.

Lunsford transferred to LSU in March of 2023 after spending four seasons at Maryland, where he appeared in 29 games with 26 starts.

He played in six games this past season for LSU as a backup.

I'm unsure why some LSU fans need to insult a young man who makes a decision like this.

He's given his college years to two teams, he's played well enough to start many games, he might see that he will probably never make it to the next level, and so he wants to try other things. What's wrong with that?

I dropped to the comments only to see this one word. I knew there would be one of you. It's a reasonable assumption, but you actually have no idea. What if his mom is dying of a terminal illness and he's going home. So why not just wish him well or say nothing?
