LSU ANNOUNCES 2019 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Features home games against Florida, Auburn, Arkansas and Texas A&M

BATON ROUGE – Home games with Southeastern Conference opponents Florida, Auburn, Arkansas and Texas A&M along with a road trip to Austin to face Texas highlight LSU’s 2019 football schedule.

The SEC announced the 2019 football schedules for all 14 league schools on Tuesday.

LSU opens the 2019 campaign in Tiger Stadium against Georgia Southern on Aug. 31 before traveling to face Texas on Sept. 7. The LSU-Texas contest will be the first regular-season meeting between the teams since 1954 when the Longhorns and Tigers squared off in Austin.

LSU and Texas last met in the 2003 Cotton Bowl in Dallas with the Longhorns posting a 35-20 win over the Tigers. Texas makes the return trip to Tiger Stadium in 2020.

The Tigers welcome Northwestern State to Tiger Stadium on Sept. 14 followed by the conference opener against Vanderbilt in Nashville on Sept. 21. It’s the first meeting between LSU and Vanderbilt since 2010 when the Tigers recorded a 27-3 win over the Commodores in Nashville.

After the first of two open dates for LSU on Sept. 28, the Tigers host Utah State on Oct. 5 in the first of three home games in the month of October. Florida comes to Baton Rouge on Oct. 12 and Auburn visits Tiger Stadium on Oct. 26. LSU travels to Mississippi State on Oct. 19.

Following an open date on Nov. 2, LSU goes on the road for back-to-back road games against Alabama on Nov. 9 and Ole Miss on Nov. 16. The Tigers close out the regular season at home, hosting Arkansas on Nov. 23 followed by Texas A&M on Nov. 30.

why do we always play utah state? this has to be like the 3rd time in the last 15 years we play utah state. am i the only one who would rather seem us play some regional team like southern miss or ULL or something? Also, replace georgia southern with southern.

Good chance of 8-0 headed into bye week before bama game. Could very well be "game of the century 2."

Ok,they gave us bama's annually soft schedule by accident

Are we going to have to open dates going forward? Is something new or is this a one time thing?

For the past several years we've opened with a real opponent, so why in hell would we start a season with a team that's not even in the same league? Granted, our new sports announcer who replaced Hawthorne came to us from Ga Southern, and he's damned fine, but I like to see serious quality opponents throughout the year. That being said, GSU has indeed had some really good teams recently, but how do you build the crowd excitement that Death Valley is known for without scheduling big names? There is no way that there will be more than the freshman class sitting in the student section for this game. (The again, we lost to Miami of Ohio my freshman year in '86. So maybe I had better put the liquor away and just let it ride.)

Well, we do travel to Austin for UT in week 2 --- so, given a "neutral site" Game in Week 1 -- vs a true "Home opener" then a key Home and Home cross Conference "Big Game" --- I think I prefer the way 2019 is set up.

It never fails that when Auburn is breaking in a new QB, we play them later in the year, and when we are doing so, we play them early.

Troy and UAB have won in Tiger Stadium since Auburn has. We'll be fine.

Austin and Nashville are probably the two fastest growing cities in U.S. There are good reasons why. Two great road trips in 2019!

That’s a pretty favorable schedule. Could be another great season if we take care of business.
