Per LSUSports.net: AUSTIN, Texas -- Quarterback Joe Burrow passed for 471 yards, as No. 6 LSU earned its first non-conference victory over a AP Top-10 team in program history, 45-38, over No. 9 Texas.

LSU (2-0), which made its first trip to Austin since 1954, found itself in a see-saw battle with Texas (1-1) in the second half. The teams combined for 56 points in the final 30 minutes including 39 in the fourth quarter on a hot and dry evening at Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium.

Congratulations to Joe Borrow, the receivers, and the entire offense that came through for LSU tonight. The only criticism I have of the offense is LSU signed the number one running back in the country in 2019 and he never ever sniffed the field tonight. I mean if you don't develop John Emery and give him an opportunity to gain experience in big games, then how in the fricking hell is LSU supposed to beat the Alabama's and the Clemson's later on in the damn season? Give me a break.

Relax we won. It's a complicated offense in a bigtime stage. I bet Emory is the featured back in 5-6 games. But he needs to block and catch the ball in this offense.

Yea, I remember Etienne of Clemson playing as a true freshmen. Also, Aranada stubbornly stayed with a 4 man rush and got little pressure until he would blitz every once in a while. If you saw the Clemson game they blitzed the heck out of A & M.

come on, now. Texas fans were booing because they thought our players were faking cramps to slow down their offense. It did seem like it was happened a whole lot, so I don't really blame their fans. I'd do the same thing if the situation was reversed.

Our defense was very underwhelming...reminiscent of the A&M game, where the opposing team seemed to score on us at will, whenever they needed to....all this from the highest paid DC in college football and what is supposed to be the most talented secondary in all of college football....and 4 LB's on butkus award watch list...hmm

They were gassed and our defensive line did not provide pressure except on a handful of plays. This was a pretty good Texas team that may win the Big 12 conference.

@Voodoo Tiger, they beat Oklahoma last year and 2015. They play them close every year. Like I said in the off-season, I expect them to split the reg season and conference champ game vs Oklahoma .

In retrospect, the 19 play drive by Texas in their 1st 2nd half possession killed this defense. I hope they get into better shape as the season goes on.

i been saying it since last year well before the a&m game when it became unmistakable, but Aranda is overhyped and not worth his payscale. With as much talent as we have, for second (or now 3rd) year in a row our D is porous against any halfway decent team...and common sense should have told Aranda to start rotating midway through 3rd when we were just worn out from up tempo....and thats indicative of more bad coaching; when your own offense is up tempo like LSU is now, you should be ready for it, but our d obviously was not.

Our offensive line are not graders but they did hold up for pass protection. I saw few running lanes when we ran the ball. When does Ingram return?

Most Defense look suspect...out of shape maybe. no sign of interior pass rush that is going to be hell if they cant develop one. Burrow look fantastic and full of confidence...good game!!

Dude LSU for whatever reason stayed in base Defense most of the night and rushed 3 or 4 all night. This gave Ehrlinger far too much time to throw. It is ridiculous to not bring extra rush at times but LSU/Aranda obviously wanted to play defense and use his DBs and not blitz much. This led to what you saw.

The D-Line was being held all night with no calls until late in the 4th. SEC refs; holding LSU is not a penalty!

Rob62 is correct. We stayed in a base defense for majority of the night. We rarely brought any pressure or used any stunts upfront, but when we did we had success. I think our reasoning for not bringing pressure is to keep Ehlinger in the pocket and force him to beat us with his arm not his legs, which hurts us in the stat column but obviously worked out for us in the long run!
