During player interviews on Monday, senior safety John Battle was asked about Grant Delpit and his recent success in LSU's secondary.

Battle had nothing but positive words for the sophomore safety, even saying that he has the ability to be better than former DBU star Jamal Adams.
quote:

"He's Superman right now," Battle said. "I told him Thursday, as a true sophomore right now, you are better than Jamal Adams. It's just a testament to his work and how hard he's been going since summer and the spring."
Adams, who is in this second season with the New York Jets, saw these quotes and responded with this on Twitter.

Honey Badger wasn’t a safety by definition at DBU. CB and Nickle

Two totally different types of players. Adams more of a stopper, Delpit more of a cover guy. Both cover a lot of field.

Geez. It’s just a quick comparison to give the kid confidence. Jamal take it down a notch.

Congrats on the edit. Glad he no longer "plays for the New York Yankees."

Jamal is a better safety against the run. Jamal is a little better tackler too. If Jamal is near you, you're going to the ground. You don't see him miss tackles or get juked really at all. He's very fundamentally sound. Delpit is probably a little better as a ball hawk type safety. Both are comparable though, but Jamal is Jamal lol.

Delpit has raised the level of his play, and I wish him, continued success.

Delpit can just do so many more things on a football field than Adams. He is better right now—just 5 games into his 2nd season—than Jamal ever was at LSU. And Jamal is one of my favorite players of all time. But he was never the game changer Delpit has turned into this season. He’s fricking incredible.

Ur not to big on football are you.....but really, Jamal Adams went in the top 5 in the draft, not sure which spot really. To say Deloris beyond that at a younger age , cmon.

Nice reply by Adams. It’s hard to start considering someone as good as a top 10 puck in the NFL, but if he keeps it up he will be too!

Delpit is a very mature guy with a leadership demeanor. He doesn't let the headlines get to his head!

Delpit will end up one of the best safeties to play for LSU

Grant is Becoming a fine player. The comparisons are unfair to him. Jamal is one of the best players to ever put on a tiger uniform.

I just can't agree here. Jamal was pretty good but I wished Jamal was as good as he thought he was. Laron Landry and Chad Jones were both recent safeties that we better than Adams in my opinion.

Jamal was also more and more undisciplined in his play the older he got

Landry played over a decade ago and Chad Jones just simply isn’t in the same tier as either Landry or Adams.
