He's entitled to his opinion (He earned it) but no players shouldn't be paid...They get a education (paid) collage sports is not a Job....Graduate then get paid because you have a degree

They were built beds and a cafeteria so they can literally eat and sleep football. They are getting their education in football. For most of the kids on the roster their time in college will be the most productive of their football careers. They bring the money in to the university, even if it’s given by donors. They should or paid for their work.

bulletprooftiger - Then the NCAA needs to change their rules to allow it, but if football players get paid then it probably completely changes college athletics as we know it. A bunch of schools that aren't in Power 5 conferences would probably drop football or drop down to the FCS level (assuming FCS level aren't paid too) because they don't have the athletic department revenue to afford paying a roster of 85 players. Some schools that kept football would just eliminate other non-revenue sports like soccer or lacrosse to offset what they're paying football players. Then if football players are paid, basketball players are going to want to be paid too. Except men's basketball makes money. Women's basketball does not. But with Title IX, the school would have to pay the women equally...even though their sport doesn't generate a profit for the school.

TP. I am not a title ix expert, but I think the law says that scholarships need to be equal btw men and women sports. But title ix is the only law you referenced. The rest are rules for NCAA membership. I think the rules should change. Why should soccer and lacrosse players get the benefit of the football players’ money? That is the type of wealth redistribution that people generally dislike in this country.

Doesn’t matter. If there are large amounts of money floating around it needs to be spent in ways that are “socially just”. You must have missed your Resentment Driven Econ 2012 classes.

Sports media: If WW paid players he should be fired and LSU should be banned from postseason play. Also sports media: LSU is evil and greedy because they built a nice locker room instead singlehandedly changing NCAA rules in order to pay their players. Certain programs can build state of the art facilities, and it's met with praise and flattery. LSU does it, it's met with scrutiny.

If you looked up wet blanket in the dictionary, you’d see Eric Reid’s picture. He’s so busy trying to turn everything into a cause that he can’t even be happy that the guys who play for his Alma Mater got a sweet upgrade.

Right, Eric. Playing for LSU and displaying your talents on a national stage had NOTHING to do where you are today. Same goes for any football player at any NCAA school. And it's only the uniformed players that make the game possible. Right. Your sense of entitlement started early, I see.

Let's put a list of things these college athlete's get for free and see if it would equal a salary. Clothing (shirts, shorts, pants, shoes, socks, underwear I'm sure) all supplied by Nike. FREE college. Free living. Around the clock access to the best facilities in the country. Free food at any point. For the top level guys, a kickback from a booster or two. Am I missing anything?
