Former LSU Football player and Ruffino's restaurant owner Ruffin Rodrigue has died, the restaurant announced Wednesday.

Ruffino's Facebook page released the following statement:
quote:

Ruffino’s is saddened to announce that our owner and founder Ruffin Rodrigue Jr. passed away unexpectedly last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Ruffino’s will remain open today in order to help our guests Thanksgiving needs – continuing to Celebrate Life the way Ruffin would have wanted us too.

We will be providing more information on services as they become available.
Rodrigue played guard for LSU between 1986 and 1989 and was a part of the SEC championship team in 1986.

Possibly a heart attack or brain bleed of some sort? Those are the most common “it happened suddenly” natural causes.

My wife and I were passing by Ruffino’s restaurant this afternoon and I mentioned that the owner of the place was Ruffin Rodrigue (an ex LSU player and still a huge fan). We got back and I saw the news. Wow he was still so young too. Sad day!

Heartbreaking. He was my boss in the early 2000s when Ruffino’s opened up. Huge personality, great guy. He will be missed. ????
