Former LSU safety Ryan Clark joined Skip Bayless on ESPN's "First Take" Wednesday to debate the topic on whether or not Leonard Fournette can win the Heisman Trophy this season.

Skip Bayless argued that Fournette will not win the award because quarterback Brandon Harris is not "consistently good enough to help him win it."

Clark strongly disagreed and said that "Fournette will win the Heisman and it's not even close."

You can watch Bayless and Clark debate the topic here:

Nice editing on his quote. What Bayless said was "I don't know if he's (BH) good enough, consistently good enough to help this kid (LF7) win it." Accurate statement. We haven't needed BH6 to carry a game on his shoulders, yet, so he hasn't had the opportunity to prove himself the gunslinger he can be.

SB is a pompous ass, for sure, but his complete statement is not as suspect as presented here.

Ryan Clark looks like he hasn't aged in years. My God, he laid some licks in Tiger Stadium. RC is the original hard-assed, pipe hittin' MFer. Ain't no on-camera bravado with him, that's RC, thru and thru.

There is something completely backwards about someone maintaining their job just because they posit the exact opposite of what the populace is saying and what conventional wisdom suggests.

"Skip Bayless is a pompous ass."

And is almost always, if not always, wrong.

They should be discussing whether or not LF win back-to-back Heismans next year. This year is all but a foregone conclusion.

Like Clark said, Fournette will win because of his jaw-dropping "Wow" moments. Chubb and a few other guys will be neck and neck all season with him as far as stats go. But put on the highlight reel and nobody else makes you shake your head in disbelief.

Ehh, I watched the show, and he really didn't say LF "will not" win it like the title suggests.

To say that he "will not" win the award is asinine. To say that he "may not" win the award because he's not sure that LSU will be one of the best teams in the country is fine. I disagree with him, but thats fine. LF7 may win even without LSU being one of the best teams in the country. That's how good he is, IMO. They are going to have a very hard time passing him up when it comes to voting time.

"Skip Bayless argued that Fournette will not win the award because Skip is always controversial and trying to keep up the ratings so he doesn't lose his job."
