This is the same FPI that had SMU and Syracuse in the top 5 a few years ago.

This will be settled on the field. Bama is there when it's all said and done. FPI didn't have us there last year if I recall.

Not creditable if Bama is not in it.

If you think you heard this story last summer you are mistaken. Most had this as a 3-4 loss team, and our o/u for wins was 8.5.

They'll be good, but I think I heard this story last summer, too.

LSU is poised to win a championship better than any team in the SEC. Anyone who says different is a dip shite. There is literally no other team in the SEC (and arguably the country) who will return and bring in the same amount of talent and potential.

But, please continue to be contrarian jackasses.

Why is it so hard to believe that LSU could be number 1. We have more returning starters than any team in the SEC, we made a ton of upgrades on defense along with a stout defensive coordinator, and the front runner for the Heisman in our backfield. I swear you fair-weather fans make me sick. LSU has not been #1 for so long that y'all actually think we don't deserve to be. At lease let the season start before you pass judgement. They picked LSU as #1. All the real tiger fans, enjoy it. That's good news. All you fair-weather fans, go f!@$ yourselves.

Realistically I could see Bama (#1), LSU (#5-6), Ole Miss, and Tennessee, in the pre season top 10

I actually pay attention and research other teams.

- Ole Miss will be just as good or better in 2016 as they were in 2015.
- Tennessee is the most complete team in the East and damn near knocked off both Bama and Oklahoma who were in the playoffs. They had 4th quarter collapses in those games and the same vs Florida who had a QB on PEDs at the time. Look for Tennessee to be undefeated or with 1 loss headed into the Bama game next year (which is in Tennessee), and then after the bye, their schedule is pretty much a breeze.

Bama should be 1. If they aren't at the beginning they will be before its all said and done.

We have no business being #1 in any list. shite like this is why our fan base is so entitled.

I think LSU is definitely worthy of top 5. How is Bama and Ohio State not in there though but UT is? Da hell?

Projected rankings are alot like recruiting rankings...never know the heart of a team or player until they are thrown into the fire known as the SEC...I do like our chances at this point in time, but will reserve my rankings until I see our QB play in the fall...

These are projections based on talent and returning starters, although Tennessee at #5 is a head scratcher. As has been the case for years at LSU, talent on the field doesn't always equate to success. Coaching plays a huge part, and well, we've got Les Miles.

It is not about 2015, it is about 2016 dummies

How is lsu having 3 lossed in 2015 relevant for 2016 rankings. Anyone with a brain knows they are as good as anyone from a talent perspective in 2016.

It's ESPN's Football Power Index based on numbers without a human element.

This is just silly. I hate Alabama just as must as the next guy, but to not have them in the top 5 is non-sense. let alone a 3 loss LSU team at #1.
