LSU's Tiger Stadium is No. 1 on ESPN's list of the Top 25 College Football Stadiums.

Soaking up the atmosphere on a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium is pure nirvana for football fans, and it's hardly just the football game. The food at all the tailgating spots is divine, and we're talking about dishes from gumbo to shrimp boils to jambalaya being stirred in giant pots by fans hydrating with cold beverages and sporting their purple-and-gold attire (and, yes, beads too).

Mike the Tiger, LSU's live mascot, roams around in his spacious zoolike enclosure just north of the stadium. He used to hang out on the field in his cage on wheels just outside the opponents' locker room, but he no longer leaves his habitat to go inside the stadium for games. Having opened in 1924 and now with a capacity of 102,321, Tiger Stadium has been listed as one of "America's Most Treasured Stadiums" by the Historic Stadium Caucus. And when the Golden Band From Tigerland hits those first four notes upon stepping onto the field for pregame festivities, there's nothing else quite like it. -- Chris Low

Bear Bryant said it, Tiger Stadium is "the worst place in the world to be an opposing team" and it stills holds true.

I had an acquaintance who was from Columbus, went to tOSU and maintained (homer loyalty or not) that tOSU was #1, but he was living in BR at the time and said he had little question that LSU was #2. He had been to big games at the Rose Bowl, the Big House, Notre Dame, etc., and said nothing was really in the league of those #2. While we disagreed, I appreciated his perspective and experience.

Keep in mind, he had been to games at LSU only in the 90s for his comparison - the low ebb of LSU football in the last 75 years - when he made those statements.

Friend from Michigan swore nothing compared to "the big house", after LSU game he said "not just a game, a party, an event, a spiritual experience. I've never even been to a concert that incredible."

I was an undergraduate at Michigan and graduate at LSU and have been to both stadiums multiple times- LSU experience is far better, Michigan tailgating is weak at best

True #1. It's been considered by most to be the best stadium in college football long before the internet christened it that.
