Ed Orgeron joined the SEC Coaches Teleconference Wednesday morning and provided an update on linebacker Michael Divinity Jr. who returned to the team this week.

Divinity's first game back for the Tigers would be the National Championship if LSU can make it there, according to Ed Orgeron.

Question:
Coach, did you say that if you make the SEC Championship game, that Divinity will have a chance to play in that game or a game after that?

Ed Orgeron:
No, he will not be eligible. I think the eligibility will come towards, after a bowl, if there would be another bowl, there would be a championship game... maybe he will be eligible for that. Up until then, Michael will not be eligible to play.

Full Audio:

Divinity, a senior from Marrero, La, was held out of three games due to a "coach's decision" earlier this season and missed the Alabama and Ole Miss games will he was away from the team.

Why not let him play vs tx a&m or vs georgia ?? Is it drugs or bad grades? Anything else he probably would be able to play vs aarkansas since he not hurt. Lsu obviously needs help defensively whether it's coaches or players or both

Reading the tea leaves here... but could it be that his 2 game absence due to personal leave WAS NOT counted towards his suspension by compliance!?!?!? If so, that would suck!

While its nice to have him back helping the team during practice in preparation for the rest of the season this sucks honestly. Hoped to have him back for the SEC championship game at least. 6 games is stiff for almost anything damn.

If he would be at Alabama, he would be playing this weekend. Thank you LSU compliance.

I like the fact that CEO keeps these things close hold and still leaves the door open for players to return.

Bige11, I’d hate to say it, but if there wasn’t a violation, he’d be playing this weekend. Some with a negative connotation happened and Divinity is being disciplined for it. There’s no other reason to hold him out for that amount of time.
