It was announced Wednesday morning that LSU's game vs. Missouri on Saturday is being relocated from Baton Rouge to Columbia due to Hurricane Delta.

The kickoff time also changed from 8 pm CT to 11 am CT, which head coach Ed Orgeron was happy about since it allows the team to get home as soon as possible on Saturday. Per The Advocate:

Travel and rest was the concern. Orgeron said if the game had been played at 8 p.m. in Missouri, the team wouldn't have made it back into Baton Rouge until 4 a.m. Sunday.

Team trainers told Orgeron that it takes two days for a team to recover from a game, and a late kick could possibly set the Tigers back while they prepare to play at No. 4 Florida on Oct. 17, one of their biggest games of the year.

With the morning kickoff, Orgeron said, the team will instead return to Baton Rouge at 6-7 p.m. on Saturday.

"I think our team and our coaches will get more rest," Orgeron said. "I think that was a big advantage for us."

Makes a ton of sense but I’ve always wondered why they don’t just get a hotel for Saturday nights on away games and fly back Sunday morning

Why not just get a hotel. Come back Sunday?? I believe such a move would count as another practice day. Meaning they would have to take Monday off or something like that.

But why was 8pm the only other option? There are other hours in the day besides 11am and 8pm. Oh well whatever.

Kinda funny how he's kinda hinting that mizzu is a tune up game for florida and florida is what matters. Love it

Could you please explain how you get that from his statement?

@Joe Edwards Because essentially it could come across as he doesn't need the extra time for Missouri.

Won't weather be poor in the BR area at that time on Saturday? I need to check the timeline I guess

Are you talking about the flight back? The game will be in Columbia.

According to the latest track, the storm will be in MS at 7am Saturday so looks like they’ll be good.
